I don’t think our o line is settled yet.
There will be some good OL cut or traded before the start of week 1.
We will see how it all shakes out.
But yes OL and Coverage LB are my 2 biggest concerns about this team.

If Schuster plays, he will get his guaranteed salary of $7M plus $1M of game bonus for a total of $8M.

If we cut him, we would take a $2M cap hit (all sunk cost). So, you believe that a team would be willing to pay him $5M (we would throw in the other $3M).

To be clear, that deal would likely be signed by the patriots within the hour or two that it would take to book him a plane ticket and gather his stuff.

MY QUESTION
is how long will we wait. Would we be willing to put him on the 53 in the hope that we would have to pay less in a month when a couple WR's get injured? Or will we get whatever we can before the cutdown date, and nothing can be had we would just cut him.

I suspect that we might be willing to pay $5M of his salary, giving us close to a break-even position for this year's cap.

I mean we can all agree that Pop, Polk, Baker, and Osborn are LOCKS, right? Then you add in Bourne who I think will be PUP'd. So, that leaves two roster spots at most for the above 4 WR's....and JuJu doesn't return kicks, will
cost us some in 2025 even if we cut him
later...I'd rather eat some of his salary.

Different positions have different learning curves. TE, WR, QB, for example, have long learning curves. OL does not have a long learning curve.

All teams, if they are any good, keep extensive files on the all the other teams. I am sure they are aware of JJSS's problems, so why would they trade for him. Teams that are truly desperate for WRs, will be first in line when the Patriots cut him, so there is no point in trading for him....or at least that is what I think. It was shocking to me that the Patriots were able to get a 7'th for Harry.

BB also spent only 25% of the roster money on the offense in 2023. It was no wonder they got pushed around! But we're moving on. Total rebuild mode now.

Agreed. While giving a STs player 5 million. I feel really good about the WR groupings. Polk and baker will definitely be difference makers.

Some posters believe that some teams are so desperate that they would happily guarantee $8M to Schuster to play this year, and that this would be worth a draft pick to them to make this key pickup.

Let's be clear. If a team wants to trade for Schuster and give us a 7th, I would throw in a 6th and Zappe.

I'm amazed to see Schuster, Thornton, Boutte and Reagor ALL still here. I guess other teams need to see a pre-season game or two.

Reagor has more value than juju.. Thornton will make this team. I believe Boutte gets on the PS.

Real: Boutte is so young with upside I would hate to lose him He's been catching passes from Maye and Milton in Practice. They could have cut him loose but they kept him for a reason and he looks like he belongs. I see us caryomg Six WR's but we have eight decent ones minus Juju.

My guy PF2. I'm with you. But with polk and baker ,KB will start out on PUP and don't forget KJ has been having a great Camp too. I absolutely like Boutte. But I think the WR depth chart may be to start is pop, Polk, Baker, tyquan, KJ, I think they go with 5 because of the AVap offense don't forget gibby has been smoking guys out the backfield in camp and he can line up out wide if matched up on LBs. So Boutte could be on the PS with a designation to be called up on game days.
