Volin doubling-down likely after seeing his timeline blow up:

I don’t think Brissett would play better than Maye if he was playing with the same guys.

I don’t buy the hype around Brissett at all. I like Brissett as a backup QB and a good mentor. Nothing more.

I’m sure this backtracking by trollin Volin has nothing to do with Maye revealing in his presser that his struggles the other day came while practicing third and long.

Evaluate the evaluators, some of these media guys are dunces or simply biased.
Plus, I doubt he was actually aware that Milton isn't running the same offense as the other guys.

Doesn't seem too disasterous when considering he's still "raw", and quite frankly, while Brissett has more completions, he also is throwing INT's - in a real game, he'd have prolly just as many completed passes in a given series should he keep up that tendency. It seems Jacoby is showing his veteran status by knowing the offense and how to operate in the NFL-pace 2 minute, but I think the distance between him and Maye is a little smaller than numbers like this show.

Hawkins sounds like he could be pretty good. They need a quality safety more in his mold than the Peppers/Dugger types.

Maye has been up and down but I would be curious how different the results would be if he was behind the top OL and playing with the top skill players, while Brissett was with the second unit instead. It doesn’t sound like there’s a big gap and it may come down to who they’re playing with. Brissett getting big plays from Henry, Hooper, Osborn and Pop while Maye gets Juju slipping and falling over isn’t a 1 for 1 comparison. Sounds like Maye has to deal with more pressure too.

In Volin’s case -

I think Ju Jus time here is over.
If we can’t trade him outright release him.
He is taking valuable reps away from young players.
If these reports are accurate, I agree with you. It’s a sunk cost at this point; give the new trio plus Boutte a chance to develop, and give JuJu a chance to chance to latch on as a 4th receiver for a contender.

Maybe I am missing something. How can Kyed say it is a competitive practice if there are interceptions from Jaylinn Hawkins and Alex Austin, and pass breakups from Hawkins, S Dell Pettus, and CB Azizi Hearn. That is not exactly the A squad . Who is Dell Pettus? Azizi Hearn is camp fodder. So it is a competitive practice when Brissett goes against the C team, with none or the guys likely to be on the final 53, and they are intercepting and breaking up Brissett's passes? What am I missing?

Trade him, he’s got a reputation. They can get a late round pick for him.
sure, as long as we pay his salary

I fear you aren’t missing anything. We may very well need to focus all of our cosmic energy to avoid heavy drinking this winter.

Titans, Raiders, Panthers.. maybe
Don’t get me wrong : I do think Jacoby playing is the right call and I am glad he signed with NE. But he isn’t the long term answer.

if Zappe was going to be anything in this league and that he isn’t showing he deserves a shot with this QB room in camp……….
