I hope Mayo has a hard side too.
In the mic'ed up video, all he does is encourage and say "good job".
It does make me miss the gravely frustrated groan of BB saying - "what the hell was that? do it better!"
I hope Mayo gives tough critiques in the meetings and film sessions, or this is going to be a quick experiment.

There is a famous saying, "Hope is not a successful business strategy". Same thing applies here. "Hope is not a successful football team building strategy".
Oh no argument on that.. I guess I'm just not as overly concerned. I'm confident the offense will be marginally better that last season.

He does. The mic'd up portions won't show that side if coaches for obvious reasons... mayo was even telling the players he was mic'd up to be careful what they were saying. So far I love what Mayo's been about. Seems like the players are looser and more confident in themselves as players.

I agree that the offense is probably marginally better, and even better than that too. Mac was awful. We all know that but when we see Brissett and Maye we will understand it better. Just replacing Mac (and Cam before him) is a huge improvement.

But still disappointing. We had so much cap space. I dont buy the "we are saving the cap space for the future" argument. We could spend some and save some.

It's interesting to me that Brisset has the second best TD to INT ratio in the NFL behind only Rodgers. And we all know AR would rather lose the game than have a pick sully his numbers.

Damn…I hope he doesn’t recover swiftly; if at all, and that it continues to linger for the duration of his career. Prayers up..

You can see him do a little more corrective coaching in the rookie minicamp mic'd up video

You can only hope to contain him:

Zappe enters the weekend having completed 75% (18-of-24) of his passes through the first three days of camp. By comparison, Maye has completed 73% (33-of-45), Brissett is at 73% (32-of-44) and Milton is at 71% (22-of-31).
This is the first time since Brady’s rookie year in 2000 that the team carries four QBs. Can’t put in the rookies if Jacoby Brissett goes down. Just can’t.

Some on here are saying they must put in the rookie even if Brisket is totally healthy…

The FA market was less than desirable. Yes we were in on ridley.. but I guess the millionaire tax was the deal breaker. However from the report from camp polk and baker have been play makers. The pads come on today and it's raining so this will test the offense more. Seems like unless a trade happens wich I pretty much doubt at this point that we are going into the season with what we have. I'll take a steady Brissett over anything we saw for a QB last season.

Not until the offensive Line, the Tackles in particular and LT specifically, proves that it can protect our QB whoever he is against NFL pass rushes...

That, plus Maye stops being inconsistent and making rookie mistakes.

Some desperate teams have to go all in on their rookie QB cuz that’s all they have. We have an experienced NFL QB to provide a bridge so we don’t have to bet everything on our rookie fixing his mistakes in game action. He can learn and polish his footwork and the rest of his game in practice before being thrown to the wolves and possibly ruined like our last rookie QB.
