Semi-OT: Giants were seemingly very interested in moving up in the Draft. Potentially for Maye.

Slow time of the year so why not. I swore I wasn't going to watch Hard Knocks as it has become so watered down and formulaic over the years but after seeing these clips I had to watch due to my Maye man crush.

Kind of wild the Giants let them release this. Seems like they are doing everything they can to let Jones know he’s on the hot seat.

They also dissed Saquon which got plenty of air time here in Philly. Did they forget he gets to face them twice this year???

Fwiw, ESPN has their early peek mock draft for 2025 and has the Pats with the first pick. In that scenario, they trade back with the Giants back to #5.
Giants go QB (Beck) and Pats go LT at #5

I still shake my head and can't believe Drake Maye was there at #3.
My Highest rated QB prospect in the last decade only because I only went back a decade HA

How do the Pats end up with the #1 pick, when they are going to win the superbowl this year?
I'm not that optimistic, but I do think they'll be closer to making the playoffs than getting the #1 pick.

As an aside, I'm seeing the current "flavor of the week" among people making mock drafts is, "The Patriots are going to suck, they're going to end up with a top 5 pick, so . . . they're going to draft on defense."

I was afraid Washington would take him at #2.

I am very leery about Daniels lasting in the NFL
I don't think Daniels is terrible, but he's a year and a half older and has similar questions. [Maye ran almost as often the last as Daniels did.]

They start 0-4 and make a deal with the 2-2 Panthers where they swap 1st round picks.

Carolina never wins another game. Maye takes over and Pats win out.

Pats end up with a top 8 pick, still within range to land an elite left tackle. Preseason week 1 will be here before you know it.

Damn glad they didn't trade the pick.

Daboll would have groomed Maye into a superstar.

Not to say AVP can't, but damn what a fit that would be.

Although I like the thought of drafting a LT like Cambell, Banks or Miller. I love the idea of getting the sure thing in free agency wirh Tristan Wirfs or Alaric Jackson. DE is an extremely deep position in next years draft and I’d love to see them partake

When reports came out that the Commanders GM loved Maye, I hadn't looked at Daniels tape yet. After being wowed by Maye, and underwhelmed by Wiliams I started looking at Daniels. I'm not too worried about his size in terms of injury since the statistics historically don't show any correlation. Also, he's an elite runner and that ability generally translates to the NFL. However...

Watching video of every play from the 1 good season he had, over and over again I was shocked how bad he was. Didn't see wide open guys all the time, had 1 throw all year in a tight window over the middle because he fears his own weak arm strength, I couldn't believe how bad he looked but I tried to talk myself into him since Pats were going to take him and figure the elite running will be fun to watch but I couldn't get over the fact he can't process or throw, kind of important for a QB. Yet many scouts and draft guru's somehow have this guy worthy of a first round pick, I disagree 100% even as I suspect he has a potentially really good year 1.

I see 2 scenarios with Daniels
1: Mac Jones style career, excellent year 1 but with highlight reel runs, then a total bust as teams figure out he can't process or throw.
2: A total bust as team figure out right away that he can't process or throw

The proof will be in the play, but Maye is pretty much the perfect QB prospect, when you only take the things proven to translate, he checks almost every box. If you had to build a QB prospect for the NFL you would build Drake Maye with bigger hand size and slightly less Pressure to sack ratio though he is under the "bad" threshold by a little bit. That's it, Otherwise, he checks EVERY SINGLE BOX!

what did you see in Williams that you did not like? was it on the field stuff or off the field stuff?

I am seeing what you see with Daniels regarding missing open players and tight window throws. but arm strength? I don't see that as an issue. what are you seeing?

Exactly correct. This is all to signal to Jones he's on borr time.. between being injured and terrible QB play he's done really nothing in the league. I'm with you man.. I'm holding on to my prediction that maye daye will be starting! Think of this.. Burrow would love to have our defense, Allen, would as well.. our best chance for success is Drake playing.
