Jury rules NFL violated antitrust laws in 'Sunday Ticket' case EDIT: Case Thrown Out On Appeal.

In this case, that’s not necessarily true. Oh don’t get me wrong, the lawyers will make a fortune if they win (and win again on appeal and win on the appeal after that). But $10 billion spread out amongst the people who bought Sunday Ticket ain’t chump change because it’s not a terribly large group.

I read one estimate that it could be $400 per person per year. That’s $4,000 for me. Now I don’t expect to see it until 2035 - and that assumes the plaintiffs keep winning - but not a bad chunk of change.

NOTE: if the plaintiffs win (and win again on appeal and win the appeal after that) then there are no hard and fast set rules regarding dividing up the money. The above is just one estimate of many but they are estimating both the numbers of subscribers AND the way the money will be distributed.
I've3 been p[art of lawsuits like this over the years, last time I collected $250 from a credit bureau ruling. Money's money, take what you can get, it's only coming from the wealthy NFL.

Why is it not possible to have a team package?….get EVERY pats game a season…you’d think that would have been a popular thing, no?
Yes it would have been popular. Very popular. And that's why the NFL didn't want to do it. It would have cost them money from the people buying the single team package and not the whole thing.

With so many options already, you’d think there would be a more granular way of buying packages like this and they would still make $ off it but that’s what I get for thinking.

On a separate note - which I'm assuming this case will likely lead to a higher enforcement for things like this - I got a DMCA notice regarding a handful of posts where people had posted links to illegal streaming sites, which is now being severely monitored by both the NFL and NBA. I know I've mentioned in the past that the practice is absolutely not permitted here.

Moving forward, it's something that people need to refrain from doing and it absolutely needs to be adhered to because they call it "contributory infringement" when places link to illegal sites. Email came today, and I'm assuming I'll have mail soon about this, so people definitely need to be aware that they're going to be vehemently enforcing it and it definitely can't happen on here.

It’s obviously something they’re focusing on. Was surprised they went to this level with that designation, but they went so far as filing a takedown request with Google with any of our pages indexed where the URL appeared and had those removed as well. So they’re clearly not messing around.

im sure peeps here will obey the request not to post the links anymore... but it never hurts to be proactive about it... a reminder banner gives plausible deniability, just in case the **** hits the fan (preferably a jets fan)...

Just wooooow. I didn’t know they did this for that (I didn’t post it! , but I’m sure you know that). I’ve gotten many a DMCA for torrenting movies etc, but no further action was taken. Have you or anyone else here had the pleasure of them pursuing things further? Or know anyone that has had the pleasure? I can understand downloading things but them monitoring what you post/link to like that is a bit much. I wonder how many of these sites are honeypots/bait…I’ve had movies I torrented be nothing but an FBI (I think) notice video that was the same length of the movie so they definitely bait torrents…

They apparently found the links on here via a Google search, and I saw the list of other sites that were also affected. There were some other team sites like this one for other teams I saw that had over 100. We only had single-digit posts with it - fortunately.

Are you going to take a zero strike approach to that type of post? It doesn't feel like a warning is necessary for that. It puts the viability of this forum at risk.

I'll mention it as we get closer to the season and I'll have something posted with the game threads about it. As long as people obviously understand the implications and help me out, I doubt it would have to go beyond that.

If you can't find porn, pirate streams, or political dialog somewhere else. You're Interneting wrong.

Appeal successful

I'd like to know if the judge recently came in to a bunch of money.

Appeal successful
It was successful from a financial standpoint, but there's still the minor inconvenience that a judge has declared the status quo as a violation of anti-trust laws. So this affair is far, far from over.

Appeal successful

The judge only ruled that the NFL damages were not calculated correctly and that it had no merit.

The NFL is still guilty of the accusations.

He will be sitting between Bob and Jonathan when the LA Rams come to Foxboro.

I'm as Pro-Capitalist, Fruits of your labor person there is out there. That being said, with how much money the NFL has been raking in for decades, it wouldn't hurt their bottom-line to just make the games available for free on streaming (especially outside of a particular market for out of state fans, so that here in Wisconsin I can watch the Patriots for example). If the product is of good quality, then people being able to watch it will translate into more merchandise sales, etc. Things that will bring in more money than charging to stream games. And, they'll still be able to sell those lucrative commercial slot times during games. Just my humble opinion.

Sorry, but I do love this comment and feel like it's pretty fitting:

Actually it is just a way to get people with no money to buy something.

I have seen stuff for $20 offered with an "Easy Pay" option of $5 a month for 4 months.
