NEW ARTICLE: BEDARD: Strange Could Miss 2024 Patriots Season

By default, maybe. I'm just saying that with a fully health squad we have one of Strange, Sow or Robinson starting and 2 of them on the bench. Two 4th rounders and one 1st rounder is a hefty price to pay to find a LG.
wouldn't one of the 3 be the LG and one of the 3 be the RG?
with the assumption being the team knows Strange's injury, and knew he would miss most if not all of the season.
therefore, sign Leverette. draft Robinson.
Sow, Leverette, Robinson, Mafi, D Andrews. 5 players across 3 IOL spots. no?

So wait a second here....these dudes get paid to straight up jack what other people have reported....where do I sign up? Would love to have a job where I steal **** that I haven't written from other people that have more than likely also stolen it from some other tool....What's sad is he didn't even try to hide it....

The drafting of Layden Robinson must mean that the coaches do not like Sidy Sow. I thought Sidy was more than fine as a rookie.

We're right now looking at moving Onwenu to RG because Wallace can't play LT? So we have Sow and Layden Robinson, and in the future Strange at that position. 3 premium draft picks (I consider the 4th round a premium pick for a guard) at guard for one position.

What conclusion am I supposed to draw except that the coaches are not high on Sidy Sow?
that they think that Strange wasn't going to be available for at least half of this year.

Then, the need is at LG. Perhaps, the team think that one of best rookie OL's in the entire NFL is good enough to play at LG where he played most in college.

Strange, Andrews, Sow, Jake Andrews, Robinson
That's 5, with the 1st and three 4th's.

They knew that Strange couldn't play, so they signed Leverett (who played 16 games in his career), and may keep Mafi, a 5th rounder.

I subbed in Mafi for JAndrews. I think Mafi is the better prospect
I am not counting Strange who is most likely out all season

Sow's gonna be our starting LG. Seems fairly simple.

They'll need a backup Center too; that's why I hope Michael Jordan makes the team.

They signed Leverett to replace Ferentz. They needed a veteran C/G.

Drafting Robinson doesn't make sense from any standpoint. Even if they knew Strange wasn't going to be available. They'd already had Mafi, Sow, Okorafor, Anderson, McDermott, Onwenu, Jake Andrews, Steuber, and Jordan. Unless you know for certain that the guy is better than Andrews, Steuber, McDermott, Leverett, and Jordan, you don't draft him.. It was one of the many moves I felt was a mistake by Wolf.

How do you figure that MAFI is a better prospect than Andrews? Andrews played better than Mafi did when Andrews was given a chance.

Mafi gave up 5 sacks, 3 QB hits and 24 hurries in 458 total snaps. Only 296 were passing plays.. 32 pressures in 296 passing plays? 1 every 10.8 plays.
Andrews gave up 4 hurries in 71 snaps with 47 being passing plays. 1 pressure in 11.75 plays.

Neither were great. BOTH need improvement or they'll be cut. But let's not pretend that Robinson was remotely close to being a pick that was needed. Not with RB, CB, DE, and S being issues.

Go back to my first post. If Wallace is already practicing at RT, we'd be moving Onwenu inside. The only way we're already moving Wallace over to RT at this point is that a determination has already been made. Otherwise you want Wallace playing nothing but LT as he hones his skills at the position and Okorafor/Anderson start for the year.

Again, that still leaves 2 premium draft choices on the bench. My point is that we're drafting a lot of guards to sit the bench

OK, you would have used the pick for another player. That isn't the issue
=============================================
Presume for a second that the team knew that Strange was out for at least half a year, and expected to move their best rookie from last year (Sow) to LG where he primarily played in college, and expected to keep Onwenu at RT.

Obviously, you don't know for sure that Robinson is a better RG than Mafi, Okorafor, Anderson, McDermott, Jake Andrews, Steuber and Jordan. Wolf thought so. You disagree. IMO, Wolf judged that we needed a RG for 2024 and in the future and drafted one. Clearly, at least to me, the team didn't think that the answer was Mafi.
==================
OK, I'll accept that Leverett is a replacement for Ferenz, a veteran backup center and guard.

I agree with Wolf that we needed a RG. Let's be clear. If Leverett is a Ferenz level backu, and SOw is moving to LG, who should we expect to be the starter and backup at RG, NOW and if we used the pick on a S or RB?

So, you believe that Jordan is a better center than Jake?

Naah, you just like the name.

When you don't have a starting RG (with Sow to LG), then that position is a need, especially when you don't think that Jake or Mafi did all that well,

Pats will move on from him in 2025 if he misses the season. Mediocre replaceable players can't afford injuries. There will be a player on the roster very eager to help his bags get packed.
Sad but true…..I think overall he has been pretty average at best….too many others ready to take your job at that level

Agreed. If the OL is still in shambles in December we need to make some tough choices in the off-season. Regardless of what happens with this years class or Maye. We've used enough resources (esp iol we should be golden there) to make a solid judgment on who's drafting these guys.

I want Wallace and Robinson to succeed so bad bc both are questionable picks and Wallace was drafted a round too early imo

This is just the way things work. Doesn't matter what job it is. If I'm constantly asking to use valuable resources, not showing results, you'll be called out and your work will be looked at. I'm not trying to be negative but both picks stand out to me bc A)our needs atm and B)we've spent a good amount on iol lately. Here's hoping one or both are starters or giving us significant contributions.
