Cole Strange

If there is a statue (a ridiculous idea for any athlete or coach) it should be of Brady carrying Belichick, just as he did until Bill's ego drove Tom away.
So, does that go for every sport or just football or just for the Patriots?

no one knew much about Strange. but no one wanted to see him struggle or worse, injure.
after the draft, which everyone panned, I posted as long as he is solid and plays a long time, it stopped the BB bleeding in the drafts.
he has not been very good, as stats also indicate. he had a chance to be solid. good. but injuries have been in the way.

I love Marcus Smart. I happen to believe his best spot is slot CB, and also feel Jon Jones is the better slot CB. I do not love the thought of Marcus playing majority of the outside CB snaps given his height. I also love his ability at WR.

I hope J Andrews is an all Pro. unfortunately I see a team running an offense that likes bigger IOL and see Mafi, Sow, Robinson and maybe Turner ahead of him.

is 2014 I was consistently posting that Bill was the best HC in the NFL, more likely in all of sports. that he was a great GM but about league average in the draft. in about 2019 he fell to bottom third in the draft. Post Brady I was very vocal about giving him 5 years to turn the team back into a winner.

I am on record that the current management staff will turn this roster over completely very quickly and rid the team of BB players.

but none of that has any bearing on the fact that Cole Strange has been truly mediocre when healthy
Yeah, nobody knew Strange, when he arrived at the Senior Bowl they tried to kick him out since he invited himself.

He also didn’t get injured at all as a rookie, and he’s only played one other season… so you suggesting he’s injury prone after toughing it out to play through injury is laughable.

Marcus Smart is a former point guard for the Celtics. Marcus Jones is a CB you said was too small to play CB until I pointed out how he was 3 pounds heavier than Jon Jones… so now you’re doing what Rkarp has done for decades, pivoted from what you said and pretended you never said it… lie.

You see the regime as wanting to employ bigger linemen, you deduced this when they drafted a 315 pound offensive tackle and 300 pound guard? Sounds legit…

You’re on record as saying this regime would oust BB players, instead they brought back every priority free agent they had this season. The new regime isn’t looking to oust good BB players… you are. Again… laughable.

The mean man is gone, you can move on with your life and stop slamming good players simply because you disliked him and wanted him fired back in the 2014 preseason.

BB drafted and developed Brady. It’s funny how the same man children here who insist “BB ruined Mac” willfully ignore how he developed Tom.

Bill changed
initially, he kept the best OL coach in the league and stayed out of his way. he also hit big in the trade market with Welkie and Moss. he got lucky in the draft that Gronk was able to stay healthy (mostly) and Edelman did not leave in free agency when Bill ignored him.

post Edelman, Bill could do no right on offense with coaches, players drafted and signed in free agency

What's crazy was the the things going on behind the scenes or what a player was thinking. Edelman mentioned on his podcast (I've shared the clip before) that had Welker stayed, Edelman would've left in 2013. Hernandez hadn't been arrested yet, so he knew he was the low man on the totem pole and had to find a place elsewhere.

I think that both Marcus and Jon Jones are best at slot receiver.

Marcus is also a top NFL punt returner.

Many of us believe that the weakest position on the Defense is the corner position opposite Gonzo. The slot is fine with Jones and Jones.

Obviously, one corner position is fine with Gonzo.

We need at least two outside corners in addition to Gonzo. We have Bolden, Austin, Wilson, Wade and Hearn. That's a lot of bodies. But, is there a solid starter and a solid backup or two in the bunch?

Personally, I think that we might have a couple of future solid players. For me, for now, I would feel much better if we signed Gilmore or another veteran corner. So, while we develop 2 prospects, we'd have a top secondary, not one with a big hole.

he will have missed 50-75% of games played last year and this year.

you can belly ache all day my friend. Marcus, in my opinion, is too small to be playing outside CB on a regular basis. the balance players available are mostly JAG's. the team needs an upgrade at CB

they have anther 20+ free agents next season. yes I am on record as saying that the roster will rid itself of the majority of the players on the roster over a 2 year span

Bill was over his head the past 3-4 years. that does not make him mean.
those "good" players were a 4 win team last year.
you make it your business to put the blame solely on a 3rd year QB that had 3 OC's in 3 years and an OL and WR room that both were worst in league. yet when your boy crush Zippy played, the offense was even worse.

you should stop making excuses and join the discussion on how the team best moves forward and stop living like its 2017 and life with Bill is fine (as long as Tom is in charge)

Yeah, he got lucky… that’s how he sustained one of the best teams in the league for twenty years. Take away all of the best players he drafted and developed and this makes sense.

Again…. man child logic.

Marco Wilson has experience and can start outside… Bolden, Hearn and Dial bring youth and athleticism. I don’t see a perfect team anywhere in the NFL, but that’s pretty good depth.

He drafted and developed Tom, he didn’t just appear out of the mist.

BB also won with Cassall, JimmyG, Brissett… pretty much every good QB he had. News flash… coaches win with better players. Brady also had Arians fired and went 8-9, that cuts both ways.

Bill never won with out Tom. never
you can cherry pick a game here or there but the record speaks for itself.
under .500
1 playoff win pre Pats (against the Pats)
he won 2 games with JimmyG. he won 2 games with Brissett.
he did win with Cassell, but no playoffs.
look at the big picture and realize this team was headed towards another putrid season if Bill stayed on

Fans didn’t know Logan Mankins or Jamie Collins either, fans not knowing something is not a barometer for anything.

He”s only played two seasons genius….

You didn’t say “outside” until I pointed out that he was bigger than Jon Jones… you just argued he was too small and would get hurt.

This is the NFL, the average career lasts three years and free agency is determined by the open market. This also doesn’t change how the collaboration station brought every important free agent back.

Kraft announced the collaboration station in 2021, you were telling us he was taking the draft away from Bill when it happened… now it’s all Bill’s fault.

He went 11-5 with a 7th round pick QB who didn’t start a single game in college genius.

Who gives a ****? That was 16 years ago and his last 4 years here were downright putrid.

The guy who wanted to get rid of players early rather than late was given much more of a chance than he gave the greatest QB who ever played. And he left us with one of the worst offenses in NYFL history. And yet, fans like you felt like he deserved to fill that seat for as long as he wanted it.

Time to move on.

You're the one who brought it up...

Just curious what happened in his 5th to last year?

How many roster spots are you giving to Corner Back?

You think there is space for 2 more outside Corners? Gonzo, Jones, and Jones are pretty much locks so if you're bringing in 2 then you are cutting the rest?

In my opinion you need at least one guy who can match up with the bigger guys and at least one guy who can match up against the smaller quicker guys. You also need a 3rd guy who is basically a starter too but he can be either type and you just use scheme and safety help to work through specific matchups any given team might bring.

As it stands now we have two very good players in Gonzo and Jonathan Jones one for bigger guys one for quicker. It so happens our best back up is a smaller quicker guy too in Marcus.

We have some decent developmental players who have decent size. After that anyone we sign will push someone off the roster and/or block their development. I just don't see CB as a problem at all I see it as probably our deepest and most talented position group on the team.

And yet we just signed a bunch of his picks to big second contracts. Free agents too. Henry is back on the team, Peppers, and potentially Judon. Bourne resigned as well.
