2 games?
Colts and Rams ?

It's not happening this year, regardless.

huh? Red jerseys got worn 2x last year. So the team already has this jersey they would just be switching to it fully as a home jersey.

They can't change their permanent jersey for another year. The league mandates a minimum 5 years between jersey re-designs. They last changed it in 2020, so they need to hold until 2025 minimum.

That new logo was awful that leaked.
I wonder if they were considering the idea then scrapped it when they saw how hated it was?

Hopefully its following the same pattern the current unis did. They used to use these ugly ass things once or twice a year before making them permanent in 2020

What are the limits on how often they can use their already declared alternatives?

To be honest it may actually be wise for them to unveil a uniform change a year early before it goes into effect, because a TON of fans are going to go out and buy Maye jerseys, and it would suck for the team to then change the uniform design 1 year later... Fans would be mad. So the team could effectively give plenty of fair warning.

I believe that they have to submit all the documentation and get approval for the change from the league a long time beforehand as well (around now, I think).

"Third uniform" alternates can only be used twice a year, and creating a new alternate is also subject to a 5 year limitation.

Or they will be forced to double down and buy another one, which is the whole point of the multiple jerseys the league loves so much.

Yeah, but that is why the fans would be mad - they'd feel like they were kind of "duped" into buying two. If they get fair warning that a re-design is happening in 2025 then they can't really be mad.

One era has meh success, no matter what APF says, and one era has 6 Lombardis. As far as this old man is concerned, Pat Patriot can continue to enjoy his retirement.

I would embrace reds with Elvis tho. That'd be sick.

That would require the NFL to not be a money hungry buncha pricks tho.

If you analyze the meme another way, you could interpret it as the Patriots viewing the requests for these uniforms as dying in a house fire while they watch and smile.
Either way, you can tell Belichick is not in the building anymore. Their socials are entertaining.

Is there no loophole that allows them to wear an alternate more frequently?

I remember the Rams heavily using their throwback before they switched to their current look.

Seems a strange thing to tease over a year in advance....
