How can you not like this kid
Before we fix his footwork.
We have got to teach him that r’s are not part of the alphabet and get that potato out of his mouth
It's funny same was said about Mahomes, Allen about footwork when they came into the league... LOL.. just saying...

Especially when the guy who followed The Guy is not the guy.
But is this guy the guy?
Guys, I'm just a guy can't say if the guy who followed the guy who followed the guy is the guy.

There is a footwork problem
I heard from some QB (can’t recall who) yesterday that fixing footwork problems is not that big of a deal
Oh I know. It's just sometimes you don't want to change a QBs mechanic's as same was said about Lamar Jackson's Footwork.

Yeah, several people were attacking the Mahomes pick.

This is from Walter Football, his pre draft scouting report.

Weaknesses:
  • Gunslinger who can be reckless with the football
  • Has some mechanical issues to fix
  • Throws too many passes back across the field
  • Can sail deep balls too far
  • Will need to learn working under center
  • Will have to work on footwork with making drops from under center
  • Will need to learn working a NFL huddle
  • Will need to improve footwork
  • Needs development for a pro-style offense
  • College offense ran lot of plays he won’t run in the NFL
  • Needs to take more check downs
  • Needs to work on staying in and being comfortable in the pocket

I also remember the pick being panned by several analysts.

He has to learn to slow down when talking. He comes off really scatter brained right now. I have the same problem, so I find him pretty relatable... Really pulling for the guy - I think he's going to be special.

I noticed during his introduction at Gillette
Waiting fir the question he taps his fingers nervously
He is a 21 year old kid
His personality is very likeable. I think teammates will draw to him

Once bitten, twice shy maybe?

Yeah, he certainly has more talent than Mac did, but we know the failure rates of these QBs and have seen first hand within our own division how long it’s taken and how many first round picks it’s taken before they hit their guy - and the Jets still haven’t done so, they just rented an end of the line Packer HOF again. I’m happy with the pick and see all the reasons to be optimistic, but I’m waiting to see him on the field and how he responds to adversity before I get too excited.
Unfortunately I like the QB the Jets picked late, Jordan Travis. Before he was injured, Travis was considered a first round prospect. The Jets have no need for him to play at all this year.

He can learn the language andsystem, perhaps getting some practice reps later in the season, back up in. 25, and boom, the Jets have a quality QB prospect ready to take over.

I would have chosen Travis over Milton if he had lasted into the 6th. Good pick by the Jets I'm sorry to say. Much better than what Atlanta did to set up the QB position long term

Pretty similar to Maye.
It's all fixable. Just takes work/repetition.

Oh, he's playing, just a question as to how early. He'll be the best QB in training camp IMO so he'll start pretty early on. History shows no harm at all to start a rookie and higher drafted rookies fair the best when starting right away.

Behind this left side of our OL? That would be career suicide.

Never ever ever was Travis considered a first round prospect. I saw two full years, probably a dozen games and never heard it mentioned during the year or after. It’s true FSU didn’t get the playoff game because of his injury but that’s about it. I liked him but he was always a fourth round prospect.

Honestly the critics would’ve been ready to **** on the Pats regardless unless they achieved a massive haul from the Vikings and acquired McCarthy.

And that wasn’t happening. It was Maye or McCarthy at 3 and the Pats made the correct choice to go with the ceiling potential and potentially elite physical talent.

Drake Maye was the sensible move at 3 and they did the right thing.

People also seem to think that “ the haul” is 3 first round picks, when it’s really two, because one of them is just an agreement to take worse pick in the first round. They were 100% right to reject the trade offers, and would be going without a QB for years if they didn’t take one there.

Until that Left Side is taking care of
Do not put this kid out there
Suicide for sure. Both physically and mentally

I agree, let him sit a season, as Mahomes did. Keep building the OL and skill positions around him, then start him Week 1 in 25’. Their record in 24’ doesn’t matter, it’s the long term results that count the most.
