Don't know if he will be doing anything substantial sportswise
Always marveled at Rich's knowledge of pop culture and rock bands.....and his ability to last as long as he did with that pill-popping, self-indulgent morning show malcontent.

toucher is a pervert hence the name.

Looks like the show will a have sports bent to it.
The new show on the longstanding classic rock station will have a decidedly sports-talk feel. Shertenlieb will be joined by Boston TV personality and sportswriter Michael Hurley and a rotating cast including three-time Super Bowl Champion and former New England Patriot Ted Johnson; Fox Sports, ESPN, and Sports Illustrated alumni Charlotte Wilder; and NFL Network alumni Mike Giardi.

Luckily I haven't listened to them as much because I no longer drive an hour every morning... but it seemed like Rich was the one holding the show together on 98.5 for long stretches of time while Toucher was going through it. Not making light of addiction problems, but Rich made the show work with a patched together crew and Sports Hub decided to give Toucher a big shiny new contract before him. Maybe their previous contracts lined up that way?

Regardless, good for him to go out on his own. He is much more positive, creative, and upbeat than Fred...but admittedly they balanced each other's personalities well.

Him and his family really went through it during his wife's battle with cancer, and the story about him finishing the marathon with her in the rain/dark a few years back speaks volumes about this character... He seems like a good guy.

Glad to see him find a gig, its well deserved.

This article from November suggests the genre as a whole is really struggling:

Owner of WEEI is de-listed, owner of 98.5 is a penny stock as of last November.

Personally I had switched over to listening to podcasts a decade ago.

Compare and contrast the usual sports talk swill to JE11 talking to Ernie Adams for two hours, I know which one I'm listening to.
