Being realistic, we aren’t going to go 14-3 or anything like that so we should be ready for some bumps this season. In years past, we probably defined success as an afccg and failure as not making it past the first round of the playoffs. While it’s fine to want results and for the team to show they can at least compete, I think it’s fair that expectations for this season should be lower than the Tom Brady years. I think winning 7 games this year would be a step in the right direction. Maybe even 6. That shows me there is at least improvement. Anything less than 6 would be disappointing and while I would still give Mayo more time to develop as a coach, winning 7-9 games this season would show the fanbase there is hope of improvement.

What about you guys?

There is only one type of successful season: Winning the Super Bowl.

BUT

It isn't realistic to win - or even compete - for the Super Bowl every year. So in those years where you aren't competitive, you need to take a long hard look at the team and decide if you're going in the right direction or the wrong direction. You have to ask is there a reason to be optimistic with the current management, coaches and players or do we need a complete overhaul?

The bar this year is set quite low. Failure to improve on 4-13 would be a disaster. An improvement plus reason for long term optimism is my hope for 2024.

Win more than 4 and see a reason for hope mostly from Drake but also several other players.

A full season of Gonzo
Improvement from White
More Barmore
Anything positive at LT
Polk and Baker
More from my binky Marcus
To name a few

The Texans were expected to be the second worst team last year and ended up in the top 5-6. That’s obviously an extreme example, but turnarounds can happen pretty quick if you hit on a stud qb. The Patriots had horrible injury luck last year and also lost a lot of close games. If everything goes well (big if), I could easily see them competing for a wildcard spot this year.

More realistically, I think I’d be happy with a 7 win season and some flashes from Maye.

The win/loss record isn't that important to me this season. I will be watching for the development of the rookies as well as how the team comes together. If they are going in the right direction I believe the record will sort itself out and with another draft and free agency the team may well be very competitive next year.

I look at this year as the coaching staff and team working things out. I hope it all goes well and we are injury free for the season then who knows where they will end up.

Similar or better year from the defense
Special teams starts to look more like it did pre 2021
At least 2 wr’s prove to be #2 caliber wr’s or better and 2 prove to be #3 or better
At least 4 of the 5 OL starters work out
Starting qb with > 87 rating
Rham with a 2022 type season
Kicker makes >80% of his fgs

Not the highest bar but id still be happy with it

Would be nice if they reverse the trend in recent seasons of getting worse instead of better as the season goes on. Also being more competitive against good teams. That would be progress.

For the 2024 season, if there is a way for us to see that Maye is the QB of the future : success. It’s hard to define, but if the #3 pick is the right guy for the job, we’ll have a good season.

Yep, not worried about wins and losses this year, but is the team playing smarter (it's been so strange to see us playing dumb football the last few years), and are the younger players progressing. It wouldn't surprise me if we flirted with .500

Honestly, I feel this team is going to suprise people. They are going to be a tough out each week. Some keep forgetting that our defense kept us in every single game, had we had an NFL level offense last few seasons we would have been a play off team. I think this team can win 9 games this season. I also feel maye is going to show enough in camp to warrant being the starting QB.

I'm caught between wanting to see a dramatic improvement in the team's play and win-loss record vs. wanting another top 3 pick, so we can trade it for a king's ransom this season.

Given that admission, the team being competitive will do me fine.

A successful season would be knowing Maye could be the next franchise QB.

Also:

- Mayo proving he's worthy of being a HC.
- Pats finally land an elite outside WR via the draft.
- Gonzalez showing he could be an elite CB.
- Barmore building off of last season.
- The OL is fixed.
- They finally beat Tua.
- Rham has a bounce back year.

Coach Mayo hands down. Who is he as the head coach? Just did the easy part. Now the hard part. Training camp, left tackle, slow recievers. Will it look right? That would be a success.

develop maye and some cohesion with our wideouts
either win close games and vie for the playoffs or lose and have another top 10 pick and regain our rightful place in the afc in 2025.
i waited til 2001 for our first sb win i can give them a couple years til the next.
