Other than Smith, are the signings really that daunting though? Kinlaw and Oliver are 49er castoffs. Full constructive knee surgery for Kinlaw and he’s only played in 41 games in 4 years. He could be a great addition or another ir casualty. We’ll see? I’ll take Osborne over Williams every day.

We’ll see what happens after June 1st cuts. Pats will be in the drivers seat at that point.

Their OL was in shambles last year and they're beefing it up for Rodgers. Smith will be a cornerstone, Moses and Simpson could help as well. Tyrod Taylor is an upgrade over Punky. Otherwise agree about Kinlaw, Oliver and Williams; I don't know anything about Fotu. The main thing is they're addressing a big area of need -- OL -- that the Patriots have as well and we're still waiting for significant help.

Only if you don't count a team's own FAs as FAs.

Mike Onwenu was a more significant OL signing than anything the JEST did. They also signed Leverett and Okorafor - who seems like a better bet than Kinlaw.

The Pats OL remains an unknown quantity, but Sow, Mafi, and Andrews all contributed last year, and Sow, in particular, looks like he's going to be a very good NFL OL.

Yes, the Smith miss (if he even would have come here) could prove bad, but AVP knows Wheatley, Anderson says he's back healthy again, and Okorafor has played lots and lots of games at tackle.

So far the Jete have absolutely trounced the Patriots with free agent signings. Looks like they've overhauled their OL, also added to their DL and WR corps, snagged a veteran CB and also a veteran backup QB. Pretty ominous.

Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, John Simpson, Mike Williams, Tyrod Taylor, Javon Kinlaw, Leki Fotu and Isaiah Oliver
Knowing your hatred for the Jets, hard to tell if you’re serious.

Smith is a potentially good signing, but the rest are nothing special.

A more mobile QB Brissett, Maye, Daniel’s, or McCarthy, gives that O Line another second. Add In a running back that can catch passes out the backfield.
Throw in I’m 100 percent sure this offense will be coached better line on down.
We should see a more effective offense and less negative plays.

Absolutely agree. I think we led the league or close to it in negative plays offensively last season. There were games where we looked just completely disjointed as an NFL offense. I'm glad you mentioned Brissett I think some are underrating his impact. He's brought in to play, run the AVP offense and help along the draft pick until he's ready. . I think he will be solid. Antonio Gibson will be firmly entrenched in fans minds by week 3 IMO.. this guy will give this offense something missing since white.

Gibson will be very impactful.

I think by week 1 Gonzo of course, and Alex Austin will be the outside CBs.. just my hunch.. j.jones is going to FS..
IMO one of the best nickel backs in the league will start at nickel back.

Midget Jones is more Returner than DB as of now… and who’s our starting Outside CB opposite Gonzo? It’s not Jonathan Jones; he’s a Slot CB/ Free Safety… and both JC Jackoff & his brutha from anothah mutha Jackoff Jones are no longer in the building.
You must know that a few good games means that Austin is our long-tern starter opposite GONZO. So many posters are so sure that it must be true,
==========
We have a top 10, soon to be top 5 Defense with the weakest position at the moment being our #2 outside corner.

IMO, a top corner opposite GONZO would be a huge plus for the Defense.

Marcus Jones is one of the best returners in the league, and an OK backup at CB. primarily OUTSUDE.

Marcus isn't a outside CB.. he was playing there as a NEED last season. You want big, rangy ,press man CBs.. is why Austin fits the mold.. I have high hopes for him! If he continues to work and get better as he was last season then he might be able to carve out a starting role. Until I see us get a FS I'm not sold J. Jones won't line up there come week 1. Just my opinion.

People are underrating Marcus Jones's ability to play CB. He's really good. He wasn't drafted to be a returner; he was drafted to be a slot corner. That's what he was known for in college and in his one whole game last year, he played well.

At this point I don't think the Patriots will sign a veteran free agent free safety - and I'm warming up to the idea of Jonathan Jones in that spot. Regardless, here's a list of those with any starting experience at the position that are still available.

Justin Simmons, 30, Denver; 2x Pro Bowl, 7 year starter
Eddie Jackson, 30, Chicago; 2x Pro Bowl, 7 year starter
Quandre Diggs, 31, Detroit; 3x Pro Bowl, 7 year starter
Micah Hyde, 33, Buffalo; 1x Pro Bowl, 8 year starter
Tracy Walker, 29, Detroit; 3 year starter
Marcus Maye, 31, Saints; 4 year starter
Adrian Phillips, 32, Patriots; 1x pro Bowl, 4 year starter
Tashaun Gipson, 33, 49ers; 1x Pro Bowl, 11 year starter
Julian Blackmon, 25, Colts; 3 year starter
Keanu Neal, 28, Pittsburgh; 1x Pro Bowl, 3 year starter
John Johnson, 28, LA Rams; 5 year starter
Will Harris, 28, Detroit; 2 year starter
Justin Evans, 28, Philadelphia; 2 year starter
Rudy Ford, 29, Green Bay; 1 year starter

It is what it is. Jonathan is little small too. I think between Jonathan and Marcus they'll figure it out.

As to FS I think Peppers and Dugger are both suited for more in the box type stuff but they both are also too good to worry about that and you use them at FS too. File under just getting your best players on the field.

If all are other corners develop Jonathan can pitch in at FS but I think we'll probably need one more year out of him at corner and I'm good with that but clearly I'm big a fan of his and of Marcus.

I think you draft or sign some vet help at FS and Corner to round out the group too. (Draft being a later Rd pick)

Phillips was a great player for us, but with the all pro level play of Peppers he saw his snaps decrease.. I would like Keanu Neal if we bring someone in. This guy was a budding star not too long ago. Seems we have a lot to choose from. Which points to the team maybe signaling the FS is in house with J. Jones.

Don't rule out Mayo putting in a call to Gilmore to try to get him back now that Bill is gone. Him and Gonzalez would be a nice 1-2 with Gilmore mentoring. Jonathon Jones needs to return to the slot and Marcus stick to returns for now.

Love Gilly, but he's lost a step. He compensates with his experience and smarts, but he can get burnt by a speedy wide out.

Aside from Brissett, every outside FA is in his 20s. Maybe that's why they passed on Smith. Looks like they're trying to get younger.

He got badly burnt and getting his ankles broken all day in the playoff game against Doubs. That was tough to watch.
