The few remaining good offensive FAs might be tagged. If that happens there are no WRs or OTs to speak of. We do not want to overbid.

Henry is OK. There is Schultz and Fant too. One of those with a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Henry was OK but does have a history of injuries like Parker, so not the most dependable. Gesicki was very average, limited blocking, but might be OK with a better QB.

The Steelers Okorafor is going to be available at RT, maybe now Mecki Becton too at LT. Becton has a lot of Trent Brown in him, and I don't mean that in a good way for either player, but you never know.

Not that this means anything, but in the consensus of mocks, Drake Maye and Daniels are now at 45-45% even as the 2nd picks in the draft. So both of them are viewed evenly, and of the post Super Bowl mocks, Jayden Daniels is rated higher in most of them.

I suspect this is from watching Mahomes in the Super Bowl, but the reality is that Maye, with his bigger body, may be MORE suited to running in the NFL than Daniels is, similar to the way Josh Allen is more suited to running than Mahomes is.

We can draft a WR. This is a rebuild.

The dropoff from Onwenu to Sow is not much, and not worth the FA dollars which can be spent to fill a real hole like FS or tall press corner. Same applies to Duggar, save the FA dollars for a greater need as we have Mapu behind Duggar with not much of a dropoff.

The drop-off isn't known yet, since Sow was a rookie and played at two different positions.

What is known is that Onwenu is probably one of the top FA OL out there. You NEED to sign your own guys who perform above expectations, and you can't have too many good OL. With Andrews, Sow, Mafi, Cole Strange, and a draft pick (presumably), the Patriots will have FIVE of their top seven OL on rookies contracts, and their starting center, if he returns, is only hitting the cap for around 7million.
This team can and must invest a lot more in their OL going forward, and a good start would be to re-sign Michael Onwenu! Familiarity on the OL is critical to success and this group should begin to gel beautifully together going forward. DO NOT let Michael Onwenu leave.

I'd try like hell to keep Dugger, Jennings, Wilson Sr., Henry, and Bourne, as well. I want others back, too, like Austin and Reagor. They have the money, particularly if they're rebooting with a rookie QB.
Back to the topic at hand, I think QB is critical (unless you can get a FA who's more than a placeholder - Mayfield, maybe? Fields (please no, but...)? Solidifying the middle class of the team, which includes Dugger and Onwenu, helps that process tremendously.

There are a lot of solid foundation pieces in place to develop.

After watching and coaching Sow for a year, the coaching staff should know his cieling. If they don't, we need new coaches.

T Brown is one of the top FA OL out there too. What does that say? Onwenu is a great guard, not a great tackle. We need tackles.

Yes we need to build the OL by drafting tackles. Onwenu is a good, not great, tackle. You argue we have a great IOL, I agree. Let's draft a couple of great tackles.

You want to keep all of our players. There are some great defensive FAs out there - I think we need to consider a few defensive FAs to fill out our top defense, and draft all offense.

Yes there are a lot of foundational pieces, and we can fill out the team with FA. FS, EDGE across from Judon, and a tall press corner would make this a Top 5 defense for a few years, and then we could concentrate on the offense in the next couple of drafts.

I think it's time for a "QB Primer" thread boys. Let's get specific for only QB's. Scheme fit, who's more likely to succeed here. Is anyone really worth a top 3 pick? AVP type? It's been said we've been moving to a "McVay-ish" system for a few years now. Who is best to run that?

Let's keep it relevant to the topic. Whether it's why you want that QB or adding something from Twitter. Let's keep it QB-centric

My problem with this is that I definitely don't want to pick a QB due to the style of the new OC I just hired. I'd rather just pick the better QB in whatever style THEY play rather than have to take a guy because he meshes with my OC. Give me the best player possible and then I'll ask my OC to adjust to him.

There is at least a couple of problems.
1) The QB that's left at 34 might have zero interest to us. Also, McCarthy and Nix are likely to be long, long gone.

2) It is fascinating that some posters still believe that we can succeed without quality OT's.

Did you see I drafted highly regarded lineman, fixed wr, QB, and added depth to Defensiveback.
