What Are Chances Patriots Make Splash Trade For Justin Fields?

The problem with trading for Fields is that you have no guarantee that he won't leave as a free agents 12 months later.

The only way to avoid that would be to work out a big money, long term contract beforehand.

No thank you.

"It’s unknown what the Bears would want for Fields in the trade market, but a first-round pick at the minimum seems likely."

No bleeping way, period.

Nooooooo.....

He just has 1 year on rookie contract and did not light the circuit on fire last year. Bears won due to their stellar defense.

He is okay to take a chance on. Anything more than 3rd round or 4th round is daylight robbery considering this draft class is pretty deep till 50.
I'd rather see them take MHJ at 3 and Nix or Penix with 34.

Fields would be better than Mac and help the team transition to the future. I am not in favor of any splash trades for a player to serve as the QB of the future that would cost a high draft pick, even if there is some upside potential. I am ok with a boring trade of a lower draft pick for a bridge QB who has become redundant on his current team.

Saw a rumor they could get as high as two early picks for Fields.

1.) If Fields is so valuable and talented that he is (allegedly) worth a first round pick, or two early picks (as noted above, then my question is this: why would the Bears give up on him, for a rookie?

2.) If a team wants a transition QB, why give up so much draft capital for that, when there are a half dozen or more free agent 'transition' QBs available?

If you want a veteran transition QB, sign one of these guys. Trading a first round pick, or two early picks for Fields only makes sense if you are conviced that he is leaps and bounds better than either the best QB available at #3, or that he is better than a combination of MHJ and Nix/Penix, or whover will be available next year in round one.

Here are some of the free agent QBs available. They will come in a wide variety of price tags, ages, and experience. See link for their 2023 AAV. With this many available, somebody is bound to be available at a resonable value - and the team gets to retain their early draft picks.

Kirk Cousins
Ryan Tannehill
Jacoby Brissett
Tyrod Taylor
Marcus Mariota
Sam Darnold
Jameis Winston
Drew Lock
Baker Mayfield
Gardner Minshew
Teddy Bridgewater
Tyler Huntley
Joe Flacco
Joshua Dobbs
Carson Wentz
Mason Rudolph

As a backup, maybe.

But if it's to compete for a starting job, it will feel like the Pats are trying to drive fans away.
Mac for Fields straight up. I'll take your problem, you take mine.

Less than ten percent but I don’t hate it either, if Bears are dead set on a QB and the Pats take MHJ at 3 I’m cool watching that duo for a couple of years. Toss a decent RB in there and a free agent WR you have yourselves an actual NFL offense. This team isn’t a player away, especially on offense. I’d rather build the offense up around a decent QB and wait until you find your guy later, same way Chiefs did it.

For an early pick AND have to give him a fat contract? Heck no.

Bears overplaying the hand IMO. They draft Williams everyone knows they have to dump Fields.

Guessing they get a pair of threes MAYBE a high 2

22 million for his 5th year.....

If the Pats can get him for a fourth rounder or less, I would be ok with it. He is not the future. The Pats have too many holes to be using a first or second day pick on a place holder QB who the Pats may only have for one year.

He's a reject at QB, for cheap enough sure why not, but beyond that noooooooooooooooooope.

We're have our own failed first round draft pick QB to trade away... we don't need someone else's.

Stop asking about Fields.

As mentioned earlier
If they are going to draft a QB. Then they have no faith in Fields
They can puff out their chest and demand a 1st rounder at the minimum
They will get a 3rd rounder at best

If they don’t have any faith in him and they know everything about him
That is enough for me to say No Thanks

We do not need a splash. Hard pass. Steady FA signings and good drafts. We have A LOT of cap space if the Pats use void years, and high draft picks. Time for the front office to earn their pay.

JJ McCarthy intrigues me now .. can he be our jordan love . If so , trade down get an extra pick, draft a OT , trade up to get Mccarthy, sign brissett and let McCarthy sit for a year . Solidify offense and start contending feom 2026.

No more than a 4th rounder in the 2025 draft at best.
