The decision to hire Mayo as head coach probably locked the organization out of attracting top tier coordinators. Mayo does not have a lot of connections and GM uncertainty adds to kack of appeal.
I also think $ is a factor becayse Kraft still owes 25 million to BB for this year.
Makes sense that Kraft might not want to pay top dollar for new coaches on top of what he is paying BB.

I think it’s more the fact that with the Patriots going defense for HC they wanted to have a coaching staff that will stay long enough to develop a QB.
You can’t go young hot shot Oc cause they are the first in line for HC jobs.
So maybe if during the interview say Robinson was like I see myself as a HC in 2 years Mayo was like eh I don’t know if this is the right fit.

Ran into Van Pelt who is older and less likely to get a HC nod and saw this as someone who can grow with their QB.

As far as commanders and Kingsbury for instance they are dug in on Williams.
Bears should get a nice haul to move down one spot.
I would guess this so already being discussed.

BB left us with a good defense and the best cap space position of all 32 teams. Your BB hate is in almost every one of your posts.
Also the worst offense in the league. That means half the team sucks. Its a bad position.
Also for accuracy, pats have third or fourth most cap space.

Agree with your premise but if so they should have hired an offense oriented head coach. Did Kraft hire Mayo because he thought he was a nice guy when they went on the trip to Israel together?
Does Mayo’s business development experience at Optum indicate he will be a good HC?

All valid points, I think the reason he chose him was how well he related to the players and how Mayo went from player to coach, and their personal relationship all played a part. As well as getting younger at Hc to attract free agents.

It could be a lot worse. With the cap space and the 3rd pick in the draft this could be a quick turnaround if managed properly.

Same mistake on this site over and over again. About the 3rd or 4th time I have explained it. You have to look at the next three years where we have the most cap space by far. Why is that important? Because BB the GM added far fewer void years than other teams, so we can add void years as well as use our cap space to reduce the 2024 and 2025 cap hits. We can stretch our dollars (by using void years) and sign more FAs, and it is a quite good FA year at the moment. Lots of talent on D we can sign defensive FAs and possibly be a Top 5 D in 2024, while we rebuid our offense through the draft. Like what we did in 2001.

I find it interesting that 3 of the offensive staff has found jobs in the college ranks instead of the NFL: BoB, Sunsieri, Douglas.

Lawing (TE coach) will probably follow BoB to wherever he ends up. Klemm is gone, probably ends up on a college team. Yates, who knows where he ends up.

where did douglas go?

is klemm gone for sure?

So if Vinnie is going with Steve to UW, then I really hope Stump Mitchell will come here as RB coach.

But the Belichick bros really were the secondary coaches, we're going to need someone who knows what they're doing regarding play calling too - since neither Mayo or Covington did that

Brian and Mike staying. That's good.

Is the Brian & Mike news confirmed?

We need Mike to stay. Good to hear. Hightower to coach LB’s…good too.
Brian also. I like the kid. Saw a segment of him coaching in the Senior Bowl (I think). He was good and seemed to connect with the players.
