Schefter Report: Falcons Plan to Hire Raheem Morris as Head Coach for 2024 season

The chances of landing ANY coach for longer than 3 years these days are 10% AT BEST. There are only 7 coaches that have lasted longer than that in the league right now. But in that time, a lot more have been hired and fired.

Atlanta's chances here are not very good at all. I'd just roll the dice with the best coach over the next 3 years, and a couple years after that, I'd be dead anyway
Fair point about HC longevity, but in Bill's case you have to revamp the whole organization, That may be the right decision, but harder to pull the trigger on that.

And I will wager you a gentleman's bet that if Atlanta lands either Bo Nix or Pennix jr they will be in the mix. They won't need BB to do that. BB is too old school he doesn't click with this new Me First generation I raised four of them. I hope BB enjoys his time in a Broadcasting Booth.

And a Owner would be very foolish to do if you have very few voids to fill.

You're right, that was a different time.
Yes Pete only got 3 years but are trying to use this as some denial of the fact that coaches used to get 4 or 5 years before facing the firing squad?

And that wasn't my only point. I was refuting the idea Bill was about to get fired. It's crazy talk with no basis in truth. Following the injury to Drew there was zero percent chance he was going to get fired at the end of the season.

If anything his choice to go with Brady would have made that seat hotter had it not worked where as just putting the 100 million dollar man back in would have been safer in the short term.

Looks like Bill will be at a standstill with Ownership of other teams because they don’t want him clearing out Assistants and Front Office for him to hire his retread gang.
It’s looking like Belichick lost his job in New England only to receive the “none for Gretchen Wieners” treatment from the rest of the league.

I said outdated since Brady left he made the **** show worked behind the scenes. Wining covers up so much I am sure even you know that.
Well, there is a lot of whining, agreed, but mostly from people who haven't accomplished 1/100000th as much as Belichick has accomplished. So, the story goes, Belichick shut down the Rams defense in the Super Bowl in February of 2019, and then proceeded to forget just lose his abilities in the next 12 months after Brady left. It's a fascinating story

The League is paying attention BB's ways haven't worked post Brady. It's the McVay - Shanahan Offensive league now though @upstater would have a hard time swallowing that.
@upstater1 immediate family member doesn't approve.

Intrigued.

I don't see why this would be true. The organization there is a GM/Personnel guy and McKay who has managed to screw up so many Falcons decisions that he's now been removed. Terry Fontenot would have to take a back seat for 3 years, but it's not like Fontenot hasn't worked with coaches to give them players who fit their scheme. It really isn't that big of a deal. I think it probably had to do with a lot of other things going on. Because it is an awful decision.

Sure seems the Patriots players were playing hard with the exception of Trey Brown. I'm sure Mac Jones didn't like him either, too tough a coach for Mac. Then again, a sprained ankle is an incredible trauma for that guy.

I'll be honest with you. Bill was class A jack ass for forcing the GOAT out of NE. He was even bigger fool for believing the GOAT could not play at a high level anymore. These past 4 years, just like his 5 in Cleveland show just how mediocre/awful he is as a HC is without the GOAT. I know this hurts for the Bill worshippers on here BUT literally no team in the NFL wants him right now and that is all Bill's doing.

Then what do you make of the article by Callahan that came out before the season? Why was he saying that before we even knew how bad JuJu would be? You can't ignore the timing here. I mean, back when the article came out, BB (according to the VAST majority of this board including yourself -- let's face it, you were team JuJu over Jakobi) would have preferred Jakobi over JuJu.

Are you saying maybe Callahan was trying to make Belichick look like an idiot by preferring Jakobi over JuJu when hardly anyone else did? Another sign that the HC was out of touch with modern football? So Callahan made it up even though it wasn't true? He did it to make Belichick look bad?
Is Callahan your immediate family member?

I was told the job was already agreed to with Belichick more than a week ago. I posted that here in this thread when I found out. Immediate family member who has been in a suite at Falcons games w/ one of their biggest donor/clients. That's how my family member learned that.

No, for you, it wouldn't be a big deal if someone took over your job for 3 years. ATL simply didn't want to deal with Bill's demands. Of course, it was rumored that one of his demands was for him never to have an interaction with McKay.

Bill is Bill, and is not about to change, even if he says that he'll try. Maybe someone will look at his 4 year patriot rebuild as a great success and hire Bill, or NOT!

"Rumored that one of his demands..."

I mean, come on.

I cannot celebrate Belichick not getting a job and ultimately facing embarrassment. This guy brought us six Super Bowl wins, three other appearances, and almost a yearly guarantee that the Pats were playing in the AFCCG. No, he didn't do it alone. We can argue forever how much he had to do with it and how much Brady did, but it is hard to deny he had a huge role.

Yes, his final years here were marred with bad decisions and controversy, but that doesn't change the dynasty run. I would love to see him end his career on a high point and not embarrassment and ridicule.

I think Vrabel not getting the job is even weirder. He seems like such a good candidate to me? Why wouldn’t any of the teams want him?

Personally, I think Vrabel is smart to not rush into a new job. Historically, head coaches who get fired and jump into a new job right away tend to do worse in their second job than their first. See Mangini and Rex Ryan.
