Rap: Mayo is the new HC

Although I most certainly hope that I'm wrong, to use a line that's been used in every Star Wars movie: "I have a bad feeling about this."

Let's think new beginning this is Mac's last chance to show he belongs in this league. Mac NEVER had Great Talent to work with because BB was treating him like he was Brady who made chicken salad out of chicken . Look at the aged wonder Joe Flacco playing with Cooper and Njoku yess BB Talent matters in Todays NFL. This Team is Devoid on Talent on the Offensive side Embarrassing.
Wait, are you calling for Mac to be given another chance? Moon ball Jones? WTF, lol man you're killing me.

He needs a good GM otherwise he's screwed.

I hope they hire an OC who's not part of the Belichick tree. Get someone from Shanahan, McDaniel, or McVay's staff.

Some continuity on defense, outside of Mayo, would help. Maybe convince one of Belichick's kids to stay.

I think the players will play hard for him. From the stories I've read, he's well respected and liked.

Kraft and the fanbase need to reset their expectations. Let him build and give him at least 3 years to make the playoffs.
It's not a question of whether or not the players will play hard for him as I believe that they will. It's a question of Coordinators, Assistant Coaches, GM, Scouting, and Talent Acquired.

Hence ‘at minimum’. I was Inc about of him losing the role fully and staying as just HC.
Have you been sleeping the last 48 hours? Kraft addressed this: "we considered it but didn't think it would work."

There was no way in hell BB was going to play nice with a new GM. Kraft recognized this and decided it was best to move on. I trust Kraft, of all people, would know.

Let it go bro. Support your new HC. Support Bill wherever he ends up too.

King has been irrelevant for almost 2 decades now.

Haven't read him since he started parroting Park Avenue against us in 2007... 15 years and counting... I don't drink coffee either, so he's even lesser than useless to me...

I guess there’s a few who believe that Bill was the one preventing Mac Jones greatness.

I think that's a possibility. But if they offer him DC, Bill might advise him to stay. Steve will never be taken seriously if he's always under his dad. He needs to be on his own at some point. A familiar environment with a good defense could be what gets people to take a real look at him.
Thing is if they offer Steve the DC position, they'll need to follow Rooney Rule. I think Pats remain w/o a DC in title. Mayo can be HC/DC.

If it's me, I wouldn't want Bills' kids on my staff or any BB loyalist for that matter. Of course, if the Belichick boys leave he'll have to replace them.

I mean, I doubt Bill was a huge fan of Mac but Mac's problem was Mac. I even read that Bill approached the Krafts during the offseason to trade Mac but the Krafts wanted to give him a chance w/ BoB.

Saban hit the nail on the head when he said Mac had the John McEnroe mentality. The dudes mind isn't made for the QB role and Bill recognized that.

Heck, if Vinitieri had made two very make-able FGs in '99, Carroll would've had a 10-6 record that season & a WC berth, possibly as the 5th seed...
Not many seem to acknowledge that. He missed a game winner against KC, and then it looked like he was shaving points missing two or three field goals against Buffalo. Aside from that, they just weren't a very good team that year. Belichick exposed them on MNF and their defense was atrocious. Chris Carter was the OG Jordan Richards at FS.

You forgot Maroney in 2006.
Chad Jackson was traded up for in the early second round
TY Warren was a very average player for a first round pick.
Wasn’t Jermaine Cunningham a second round pick.
Shawn Crable was a second or third round pick
Dominique Easley was a first round pick.
And who can forget KNeal Harry

Stomper Meriweather: Bill's first, and certainly not last, Bad 1st-round draft pick.
Meriweather wasn’t a great 1st rounder, but he wasn’t a bad draft pick either; just overrated statistically.

Jon Beason, who was regularly mocked to the Pats, should've been the pick. They were aging badly at LB.

He may be great. Top three HC. And it's possible if they had done a thorough search, Mayo maybe ends up as the best guy anyway.

But it appears they just gave him the job because it was promised a few years ago. No thorough search done. What if they interviewed a different guy who blew them away in the interview?

I think Mayo is going to need a former HC as the OC. Whether that is BoB, Arthur Smith, or someone else. Mayo's expertise is in D. So, will he call the plays. Or, let someone else (Flores etc) do that until Mayo is ready?

I'm not suggesting Mayo will suck. But I think the "search" was lazy.

Unlike Bill that had no plan to replace Brady the Krafts had a succession PLAN to replace Bill. This has all been thought out for years.

From the way they set this up, 2 months ago w/ Curran leak, to the release of Bill, followed immediately by the Mayo announcement it's been a master class in strategy and media PR. This decision is being lauded by most of the media, former players, coaches, etc. Anyone that knows Mayo has said this was a good decision.

They are proceeding with their plan in a deliberate manner with no vacillation. STFU, watch and learn how a professional organization handles their business. I'm honestly impressed and encouraged by how Bob Kraft grabbed the bull by the horns after witnessing all the ineptitude happening in the building.
