In your opinion, how good does the #3 pick QB need to be?

A Franchise cornerstone, ranking somewhere in the top 20 players in the league overall

Hope for a Jared Goff or Jordan Love. If it's going to be less than that, might as well just trade for Justin Fields.

Let’s say this. Out of all the QBs in the nfl which ones would you be happy if this guy turned into.

10. No
Allen. Yes
Tua. No
Rodgers. Yes

Pickett. No
Lamar. No
Burrow yes
Watson. No

Lawrence. TBD
Richardson. No
Stroud. TBD so far yes
Levis. No but tbd still

Jimmy g. No
Mahomie yes
Herbert. ??? So far no but potentially yes
Wilson. Yes

D Jones no
Hurts. No
Dak. No
Howell. No

Cousins no
Fields no
Love. No
Goff. No

Mayfield no
Carr. No
Young. No
Ridder. No

Stafford. No
Murrray. No
Geno no
Purdy. So far yes.

That’s not a lot of yesses.

That's kind of where I ended up. I think we need to relax a little and be happy with a handful you've got as "no", eg Cousins, Herbert, Dak.

I think we have to really reset expectations. We are just one of 32 now, with nothing special at all about the franchise. We are a JAG.
If we win the division twice in the next 8 years; win 4 playoff games in the next 10 years, win one Sb between now and 2056 we are meeting expectations.

In which case we can talk about what they are going to take with their top 3 pick in 2025.
That could happen with a QB at 3 or anywhere else in the 1st round (see Carolina Panthers).

I don't disagree. But I also don't think they're taking a QB at 3. I think your opening day starter's on the roster already, unfortunately.

Mayo and Mac.

Eminem

Mayo and Mac.
Worked the media because the one person who didn't or couldn't 'ignore the noise' was the owner.

Well played by them. Hope it all works out.

According to you, they’re giving Mac a 5 year extension for $250 million.
I think he plays through this year, and they might pick up his option during the season to make him feel better. Hopefully after that, Kraft will have no choice but to let him go.

They're not taking a QB at #3.
So, they are trading up to draft them at 1 or 2?
QB or bust, they have 3 QB's ranked in the top 8 prospects, they are taking one of them.
Without a QB you can't win. This is as easy a choice as you can get, they will pick a QB.

He’s seemingly hell bent on this idea that Mac isn’t going anywhere, despite no evidence to prove that’s the case.

Taking one just because one is there is a terrible way to pick a QB, either there is one you want and you get that guy; or you go a different direction. This is not a team that is just a QB away, and this isn't a one year fix. Get the right players, not just players at a position.

They are a QB and a few free agents away from being in the playoffs, like almost every team in the NFL.
There are 3 good QB's in this draft then a huge drop off. You are not taking them because they are there like Mac Jones, these are all much more talented players than Mac Jones.

They'd be insane not to. And the new GM and Mayo will want a QB because that will be the quickest way to rebuild, even if 2024 if a bridge season and the rookie doesn't start for a while.

I don't care about Mac Jones, in fact I never mentioned a player at all....I just said taking a player just because he was the one dropped to you rarely works. On top of that, they are more than "a few free agents" away.....they have no way to fix LT, and maybe RT, in FA.

I have to be honest; I don't want a QB at 3. I think it would be more prudent to trade back and try and load up on picks. We have a lot of cap room and a lot of empty roster spots coming up. For the most part this team has so many holes that we should try and fill with youth. I have also been watching allot of Bo Nix and do not think he is that far behind Maye in talent.

I totally agree.
I still don't think they will - I'll be happy to be proven wrong.
