Compensation if BB signs elsewhere??..

Are you serious with that question?

Preference meaning go somewhere less optimal just to coach.

Kraft avoid all that BS
Of course I am serious. You can’t trade a coach without his consent.
The only way Kraft gets comp is if belichick quits and goes to a new team.

If bb does nothing he either keeps his job or is fired and gets his 25 mill and freedom with no comp.
Why in the world would he give any of that back, there was no scenario where he would have to

My response is I am aware of that.

Yes. I know which was taken off the table by negotiating the conclusion of his deal.

Ive already answered this point. See Pete Carroll.

Sure there is. Does he want to coach in 2024 or not. Kraft gave him that path. Bill agreed.
I wrote it. Of course he poo-poo the trade...or he can settle on a less than preferable destination....or Bob keeps him on ice and it goes to the courts.

so if you know he can’t be traded without his consent why would you say he capitulated so he wouldn’t be forced to go somewhere he doesn’t want to?

Comp was off the table the moment Kraft said he doesn’t want bb to complete his contract.

Pete Carroll has nothing to do with this. Kraft has to either keep bb as his coach or fire him. There was no oath to getting comp.

Kraft had no power at all to prevent him from coaching. How do you think he could have done that? There is no scenario where Kraft could prevent bb from coaching.

There is no trade unless
1) bb chooses to leave AND
2) Kraft wants to keep him

Kraft CANNOT CHOISE THE DESTINATION.

Kraft cannot take away his HC job and force him to do a different job. And why would he? Your argument is he will pay bb 25 mill to do nothing rather than fire him and let another team pay part of it? Why would he do that.

You are way off on this.

You aren't reading a single word I am writing.

Yeah, it's quite unclear. I don't think there's really room for a "mutual parting", contractually speaking... Either he quits or he was fired. Can't be both.

If he quit then the team still owns his rights and would be owed draft compensation if he signed elsewhere.

If he was fired then the team still owes him $25M next year unless and until he signs with another team and they would get no draft compensation.

Only other avenue I can see is if they decided to void his contract entirely.
I think BB is too smart to just quit, there's too much money on the table. He made that very clear when he said "I'm still under contract" at his press conference.

I also don't think the Krafts would want to foot the entire tab for that much money. Therefore I have a feeling that a trade will be negotiated with an interested team in the near future. But the clear understanding between Bill and Bob is that he won't be coaching the Patriots next season.

Edit: I just read the ESPN article. It looks like there will be no compensation for BB leaving. Just a clean break. But that also means that the Krafts won't be on the hook for his remaining salary. In other words this is a mutual termination situation. Not a firing or a resignation.

I’m reading them all, they aren’t making sense.

You seem to think that
1) Kraft could control where belichick goes next
2) Kraft could demote BB and make him stay
3) Kraft could control BBs future while firing him

None are true

There is no reason for BB to quit.
If he does nothing 2 things could happen.
1) he remains hc of nep
2) he is fired, gets full pay and complete freedom
There are no other alternatives.
There is zero reason for bb to give up a nickel of his contact.

Use common sense here. Lets say Kraft holds BB to his contract but allows BB to interview. BB finds a team, but he can go there only if Kraft and Team A work out comp.
2) Kraft could demote BB and make him stay
See Pete Carroll. Why are your ignoring that actually happened? Not reading?
3) Kraft could control BBs future while firing him
Where did I write that?

Kraft saving $25M next year will help cover the cost of the next HC, GM and a whole staff he needs to hire.

I also wonder if Orchids insisted BB could not go to an AFC East team.

If he holds BB to his contract BB is the HC of the Patriots. End of story.

Pete Carroll has nothing to do with this. Carroll did not have to accept a different job. If he doesn’t and wants to keep coaching he is free to do so. Seattle would get no comp. from the team he goes to. Carroll decided to essentially retire.

You’ve pretty much written that in all of your responses. If he doesn’t fire him he is the patriots HC. You are implying he can control his destiny if he doesn’t keep him as HC. It seems you want to think he can play chicken and pretend to keep him, but hope he tries to dishonor his contract.

Bill is going to want to go somewhere where he can win a Superbowl quickly, and he will gladly give up GM duties for the chance to coach another Superbowl.

The obvious best match for him is Dallas.

Can you imagine what Belichick might do with Micah Parsons?

I think that’s where he ends up. He will coach, and recommend personnel decisions which jones will agree with because it’s bill belichick. He will be ready to retire by the time jones pisses him off.
