Lol I respect what Mac did here but he's a major reason why BB is gone
His mediocre play last year and the abysmal play this year led to the downfall

His going up the backstairs and whining certainly was a factor.
Also, your chances are much higher now, that's Mac Jones is your starter next year.

Hi Ian,

This is Brewskies; it has been one hell of a run. I want to say that because of your efforts with PatsFans.com, you have created and maintained over the years the best sports forum in sports, all sports.

Thank you, Ian, for providing me with an app that brought a lot of fun to a game I love and a team I felt the same way about.

Now, all good things must come to an end.

Please remove me from the financial support of PatsFans.com. I no longer wish to support financially your excellent forum; let the next generation of Patriots fans do that.

At 88 years old, it is time for me to follow my thoughts. I do not see myself as part of Robert Kraft's rebuild. This is the final time Robert Kraft will disappoint this former Patriot Fan.

I wish the Patriots well. I hope the present Patriots fans get as much enjoyment from a team and sport as I did during my 64 years and the use of this forum for many of those years.

Ian, please make sure you remove my credit card. I donated my money to support this forum for many years. It is someone else turn to enjoy and take care of PatsFans.com.

Best of health to you, Ian, and all the PatsFans.com members, past and present.

As Bill would say, onto the next one.

Later, Brewskies

It was also BB's utter mismanagement of Mac Jones in his sophomore year that led to Mac's downfall. I mean come on he chose Matt Patricia and Joe Judge to lead our offense? That was a truly AWFUL decision!

Mac and BB share responsibility for the disaster of the 2023/24 season but BB was the one ultimately responsible for pulling the strings.

Belichick helped lead a very successful double dynasty era during which the Patriots won 6 Superbowls but in the end without TB12 he wouldn't have accomplished any of it. Bill thought he could plug in anyone at QB/OC, neglected the offensive talent and it failed miserably.

Thanks for the good memories but it's time for him to go.

Crazy to think Kraft became delusional and thinks he belongs in the superbowl every year like most of these fans around here. Age worked against Bill, as it is against Robert. He’s thinking he deserves one more Super Bowl before the dirt nap …
Missing the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years and finishing last place in the division below the putrid Jets is unacceptable.

Belichick's time clearly was coming to an end. I don't find anything delusional about this move.

When you're talking about whether a person should still have a job, their Performance matters.

I think it is safe to say that Belichick would never have traded a first round pick and paid $22 million a year for Tyreek Hill.

You can argue that he overpaid for guys like Agholor, but his entire contract was $22 million. Belichick was willing to pay top dollar #2 and #3 quality WRs not #1s.
Based on?

We traded a first round pick for Brandin Cooks, who was considered a top value.

You don't trade a 1st rounder for a receiver unless you strongly believe that he's the guy or that you know you're going to keep him.

Cooks ended up being good, not great, certainly not much different than Brandon Lloyd or LaFell.

You wildly overrate who Mac was and is.

Zappe should have shown us that by now.

Mac is a huge problem, they need to get rid of him ASAP.

No saving him.

Mac Jones will be your starting QB next season - be prepared. If anything, by the way this all went down, and Kraft's press conference - Mac's backstairs politicking worked - it kept him here this past season.

Unacceptable? Lol.. These next few years, jeez possibly decade just might be a little hard on your fragile makeup. Hope for the best, expect the worst. I think we in for a bumpy ride …

After reflecting on this for a few hours I have realized that I am incredibly sad. For everyone one that thinks it’s the right move, I hope you’re right . The grass is not always greener on the other side and whomever comes in has big shoes to fill. I hope we don’t look at this move as incredibly stupid in two years and realize the mistake it was in letting him go !! He still has the best football IQ of any coach and I will miss him terribly. He might have not endeared himself to the media but he made a lasting impression on this fan !!!

I have to respect Mac for this though.

If it's Mayo, he's seen enough. He wouldn't allow it.

Hard to believe that Vrabel would since he will not be beholden to the Krafts for a QB.

Getting stuck with a lame QB is the biggest coach killer in football.

Daniel Jones is killing Daboll, you see it all around the league. I give Payton props from moving on quickly from Wilson.

Belichick knows this best of all since his fortunes improved overnight when he gave favorite son Kosar the heave-ho. The fans and Modell hated him for that. They immediately went 9-4 with Testaverde.

Probably better to send a direct message, or you can cancel in your profile settings.

Tagging @Ian just in case though.

Belichick traded for Cooks when he still had two years left on his rookie deal and came cheap. The one year he was here, he only counted about $1.5 million against the cap. Belichick traded him away the following year probably in part because he didn't want to pay Cooks his next contract. When the Pats traded him to the Texans, he got a five year, $81 million extension with over $20 million in guarantees. I don't see Belichick ever giving Cooks or any other WR that type of deal.

Kraft allowed this before with a player that thought his coach was a meanie. I hope Jonathan has big shoulders to cry on too

About 2/3 years ago a poster said we needed a true number 1 wide receiver to be able to compete for a championship. I responded that we didn't. "Patriots won won 6 titiles without a true #1 receiver". Silly me. What i failed to understand at that time is we had the best QB to ever play the game and that was the reason why. In all those Tom Brady years I only recall one true #1 wide receiver Randy Moss, and Tom Brady offense was off the charts. We only have to wonder how much more successful Tom would have been had the Pats consistently given him true #1 receviers to throw to.

In recent years, there has been an influx of WR talent. It has changed the whole paradigm of the importance of a #1 WR. Truly difference making #1 WRs used to be rare. Now several teams have two of them. Just look at fantasy football. RBs used to be what everyone grabs in the first round. Now it is all WRs and mobile QBs.

Bottom line there’s not enough value in high priced wr. Too much money invested in one player that touches the ball at best 8 times a game. One injury and it catapults the rest of the team. Bill played the odds of attrition for years and for the most part won. Good teams are built 1-53 plus practice squad. Better to have a boatload of B players than 2 or 3 A+ Prima Donna’s

That used to be the case. Not so much anymore. I don't think the Dolphins make the playoffs without Tyreek Hill. And Tua might be looking for a new team next year. The Rams' resurgence is on the back of the emergence of Puka. CeeDee Lamb is the Cowboys offense. DJ Moore is the Bears' passing offense. There are five WRs with 1400 or more yards of offense with two over 1700.

And you don't need the top WRs to have a great WR. There are so many #1 WRs in the league, you don't have to spend top dollar to get one. You do need a guy teams have to game plan against and is a legitimate threat. Few teams can win without one.

There's no 'if it's Mayo', it's Mayo. And considering Mayo's leaking over the last couple of years to the media, who's to say it wasn't his idea?
