Curran's reporting on Mayo being the next head coach

Hiring Mayo is dumb, Bill himself was maybe 10% of the problem the other 90% was the people employed by Bill all across the organization who weren't up to the job and many of them will hang around with Mayo as head coach as he doesn't have any clear non Patriots ties across the NFL.
That both Bill and Ownership mutually agreed to part ways says they had different ideas of where the direction of the team should be headed.. Mayo will be an interview Candidate like some others. I believe the way it shakes out is Vrabel HC, Mayo In the Leslie Frazier role of DC , and assistant coach.

it’s a pipe dream but we should hire Jim Harbaugh. He’s had success everywhere he’s been
Harbaugh is the best available but he never stays anywhere for long which is a huge negative.

Still would like to give Ben Johnson and Slowik looks.

Kraft should do his due diligence and look around from outside of the tree. See if someone new completely sells you on their plan for the future.

I think Kraft cares about his league wide reputation. Hiring the first black head coach in Patriots history will give him owner cred and put him in high regard with his hip hop buddies

I do not think its a good reason but it is what it is

9 years at Michigan

Vrabel should be the guy. Mayo is probably the guy. He'll probably keep BOB. But I'm guessing some of the guys on special teams will need to update their resumes unless Bill lands in Atlanta. I'm looking at you, Joe Judge

Absolutely need to blow up that department. Need to get a GM from outside. However most GMs want to bring in their own guy. So I could see the reasoning.
I think Kraft is going to promote within.
Wishing I was wrong.
What will be interesting is if teams ask for and are granted a interview of MayO.

You know it is. And I can assure you Kraft would LOVE to use Mayo as a token to pat himself on the back, "making history", and promote some type of message about "diversity" and "historical NFL racism".
I don’t know that at all. I’ve read enough of your posts to know you’d call it that in any case, regardless of who it was.

I’m interested in Mayo taking over instead of Vrabel. I worry that it’s still too early for him but he is definitely a smart guy and a good leader. Just look at the defense this year. They played hard for him despite a 4-13 season with the most frustrating offense of all time. That speaks to something about his coaching.

Maybe BB was overriding Them with some of his choir boy picks on Offense. The sad thing with those choirs boy picks even BB himself couldn't Coach them up.
