Wow! No mention on the morning news here in town. Too worked up about the Avs 4th line issues...

Yeah I will repeat Stidham is leagues better than Zappe and Mac poor evaluations by both BB and McDaniels. They both gagged on GenoSmith Stidham.
What? Zappe has far better stats as a starter than Stidham

These trades, where the farm is sold for a single player, feel like they never pan out. It's one thing to tie future cap space up in leverage for a contract. It's another thing to tie up future cap space and future high-round draft picks. I'd argue there's very few players - if any - worth that cost. Even Mahomes.

I know it's strikes a nerve when anybody say anything negative about your God and Master. My observations are not biased.
Yes it's a major calamity and error to release a kid who was then released again by the team that picked him up. MAJOR ERROR. The guy has thrown more INTs than TDs in his career,

A showcase of Bill's fine draft work
Well, they are both fekkin' starting in the NFL now, so there's that.

Bottom of the barrel QBs on failing teams...............

But....Bill did unleash Hoyer on the league

Oh, so we're chastising him now for not drafting another Tom Brady? Got it.

Interesting that Stidham has replaced Wilson and Carr in successive seasons but wasn't good enough - in Belichick's opinion - to take over from the ghost of Cam Newton in a meaningless game against the Jets.

Too much. He has only looked really good for a few weeks and he has Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Rachaad White. Think his market will be lower.
You may be right. Depends on whether he finishes strong. Would strongly prefer Mayfield over Wilson
TB may be willing to pay him what he wants

Time changes things. A great deal.

I remember thinking that of all NFL QBs, Wilson would be the dream replacement once Brady moved on.

Very, very wrong.

Stid only going in to protect the team from a Wilson injury that would prevent them from moving on. He’s not ‘good’.

1. Pats trade pick #140 (5th round) in exchange for Russell Wilson + picks #75 and #78 (3rd round)
2. Pats immediately cut Wilson, incurring a $17M dead cap hit in 2024
3. Pats draft Jayden Daniels with 1st round pick
4. Pats trade their 2nd + one of their three 3rds to move into late 1st to draft WR Brian Thomas Jr., Jayden Daniels' buddy
5. Pats still have a couple 3rds for OT prospects

Jayden Daniels is the player I want the most in this Draft. It would be really enjoyable to see them with a QB with that kind of athleticism.

What a trade. Yikes

I understand the rationale behind the benching of Wilson and I'm not arguing that Stidham is or ever was "good." I only question the logic of not playing a young, second year player with some possibility of improvement instead of a clearly washed-up Newton in a completely, totally, absolutely, meaningless, last-game-of-the-season, contest against the NY Jets.

The issue is both times Stidham "started" were for the same reasons. They wanted to move on from the QB and didn't want to risk an injury or anything disrupting moving on from him. Stidham just happened to be the guy behind him. They didn't pick him for any other reason.

I was def pro-let’s-see that season once NE was out. Early reports were Stiddy positive. And then, crickets.

My impression with Wilson was he mostly was just an average QB, but what made him special was he would occasionally make a big time throw or escape like Houdini in critical situation. If he didn't pull a rabbit out of a hat so many times (including the SB against the Pats), I'd say he was more lucky than good.

Now that he's a little older and slower, he can't do that magic anymore and that makes him just an average QB who is grossly overpaid.

Speaking of magic, Mahomes is also similar to Wilson but a notch above. When he's not making those incredible plays, he is still pretty good as oppose to Wilson average. Mahomes doesn't have the magic this year,... I hope it's gone permanently.
