Undrafted.

I figured the last PS spot would go to a PK. Bill HAD to sign one of them to it, if he was to have any credibility whatsoever remain.

At least Ryland made the team. Rohrwasser couldn't even do that lol

Moral victory baby.

Multiple high draft capital relative to the position to get this garbage. Scared to use his kicker too. But hey those 25 years should give me optimism right? I just need to ignore recent events.

According to BB and BoB, yes.

As high as he was drafted, we give him another year. Simple as that. Was it a dumb draft decison to take him where we did? Probably, but then we are used to such nonsense from our "GM," aren't we?

He's smarter than everybody else.

Moves like this is why owners don't give the dual title of HC/GM.. Bill likely feels he can do anything he wants. The try hards and little engine that could dwarf WRs and CBs.. remember that time period? Ellis Hobbs, Kyle Arrington. Guys got burnt like breakfast toast.

High draft capital?!?!?!?!?!?

Do you guys know what an NFL draft is?

A 4th rder is not high draft capital.

We've drafted 3 kickers in 23 yrs.

Get a hold of yourself.

Gonzo and Keon white were his only smart draft choices this season.
They might be great players but they needed OT and WR help more than those two positions and not addressing them has hurt this year.

For the reading and math illiterates in this forum, there have been almost 2700 players drafted at position 112 or higher since Bill's first draft in 2020. Of those 9 were kickers. One is Ryland. Also, there have been over 3800 players drafted at position 159 or higher since Bill's first draft in 2020. Of those 17 were kickers. Bill the COACH has drafted 3 of those. 1 was very good but not great. 1 is a clown show in year one. We all know about the other one. That's high draft capital relative to the position. Feel free to argue otherwise.

Bill's personnel department, because he can't accept responsibility for his personal failures and mistakes, fans here seem to glom onto his past success and ignore his failures.

1 was very good but not great.
Wait are you talking about Gostkowski?

According to Pro Football Reference, he's the 3rd best kicker the Pats have ever had. How's that "good but not great"?

Agreed. He won't play Boutte, and the left tackle we have needs convincing on game days.
Bill the GM needs to learn that sometimes you have to pass on a player to fill a need. It might hurt but if you have gaping holes in your roster you need to fill them. Not grab "nice to have" players.

That lesson might cost him his job in the end.

It's not Ryland that's for sure. Gost is one step down from someone I consider a true who he replaced. Also, I'd consider his contemporary better, Justin Tucker (undrafted for those keeping score).

I suppose, if you're an extremely hard grader.

He made the NFL's 2010's All-Decade team, 4 Pro Bowls, 2 All-Pros, 3 Super Bowls. I mean, if you think he was "good but not great", that's your prerogative, I guess.

It's tough replacing the GOAT kicker (also not drafted)

You need All-Pros. Help at needy positions will cost you in the future as you try to compete to get over the best teams. They need difference makers. JSN might eventually become one, but it's not guaranteed. Demario has outperformed him so far.

Good but not great = one of the greatest kickers in NFL history by any metric.

Maybe you're underwhelmed because you wildly underrate players?

I gave you stats above for other young kickers. Nick Folk has had worse years than Ryland had. You guys have no patience.

Look at the stats on kickers. I guarantee this kid improves. He's got the leg, he kicks it true.

Have fun with Zach Wilson Ryland then.
