I hope they keep Zeke as long as he's not expensive, he has looked good. Rhamondre + Zeke is a good foundation for a young QB. Pop looks good. But they need a WR1 too.

Zeke has been an underrated signing
Sow may solidify the rg spot
Pharaoh brown has disappeared recently but looked like a solid secondary te when featured
Douglas has been as advertised when on the field
Bourne looked like a legit wr2 before the injury
Rham started slow but again looks like the gamebreaker he was last year

Lots to build off of on offense. Obviously invisible at the top and its the two toughest positions to find-qb and wr-. need to hit on that top pick.

Zappe didn't play great but I can't blame the Chad Ryland kick on him. That would have sent us to OT.

He put us into a position to at least compete in the game.

Now are any of the QBs on this roster NFL starting quality? Don't think so. But Zappe outplayed Jones and the offense looked far more purposeful and efficient under his leadership, particularly that first 8 minute drive coming out of half time.

He put the Pats in a position to compete in a game where the other team scored 13 points. Let's not act like he showed that he could compete in a game where the other team scored over 20 points.

And I do not blame him for the Ryland miss. But he almost cost the Pats the game on the pass to Smith-Schuster on third down. And he make quick one read throws on the other. He didn't do anything special.

And I am not comparing him to Mac. I am saying they need to dumb down the offense for him going forward because he cannot run the Pats' offense in full.

people in here think losing games and getting a rookie QB for next season is some recipe to get back in the playoffs next season or at least be respectable. The ******* coach has formed a team with NO top end talent on either side of the ball. does Caleb Williams or Drake Maye turn this into a 10 win team throwing to JuJu Sanu, Davante Parker, Douglas, aand Thornton?
And know what, if this dip **** coach is still here, I say there's no guarantee he starts a rookie QB.
No, obviously they’re more than one player away. But QB is the most important position in football, you start the rebuild there and continue to put talent around your QB.

Mac would still blow even if the talent around him was better. Dude is soft and easily rattled, no toughness.

going for a fg was a fireable offense. the game has passed this idiot coach by a long time ago

Oh he's certainly looked bad in his 4 relief appearances this year for sure. I just want the guy to get full reps and a start with plays catered to his preference (as explained by Cassel on the difference between going in as a starter and relief pitcher) to know for sure because he looked really good in his last start, and it wasn't just a couple of plays here and there. Not sure if you actually remember that Browns game...

But he split reps with Mac this week. He was prepared to start this week. It wasn't a normal week.

But yes, they need to start preparing the offense for him which means dumbing down the offense and giving him quick reads. They gotta do what Patricia did for him last year.

Looking at the schedule, Pittsburgh, KC, Buffalo, and (surprisingly) Denver all have the playoffs in sight. The only two sub 500 teams we play are the Chargers and Jete. Unfortunately, this looks like its gonna be a long end to the season after todays game.

Eason was extremely talented with 2 very good seasons
He brought us to our first Super Bowl ever

Mac ? He is simply terrible...

Mac was pretty darn good his rookie season. Mac today is not Mac from 2021. Go look at Evan Lazar's Twitter. He had several posts during the bye where he showed Mac doing things in his rookie season that he couldn't do today like making 20 yard passes on the money, good pocket presence, and good throwing mechanics.

And I am comparing him to Eason as a promising QB who was destroyed because they got the yips and their confidence was destroyed. I am not saying they are the same exact player.

BB with the QB competition clownery this week sees his offense get all of 7 points on the mighty Giants. Yeah.

We’re waiting Kraft. It will be tough but do what has to be done.
Only loser teams don't have a QB1 till game time.

Zappe was granted two drives that started in tremendous field position. He only could score on one of them.
Better than Mac Jones. Right now I’d offer a straight up trade to the Giants. Mac Jones for Tommy Devito.

They’d probably say no.

Y
Mac never did anything more than look ok/decent against bad teams his rookie year and he crumbled by the end of that year anyone. Stop trying to rewrite history to save face over your horrible assessment of him.
Yup - he was bad from year 1. He just had some left over confidence from college that made him overperform a couple times.

He had same issues from day 1: weak arm, zero pocket awareness, freezes under pressure and no leadership skills.

Mac is a modern day Tony Eason. Eason was a promising young QB until he started to get killed by bad o-line play and then he started to see ghosts and became a train wreck.

I blame Mac for not having the stones for overcoming all of it, but a lot of the blame is on Belichick who did everything possible to ruin the guy. If we had 2021 Mac Jones, we might still be in contention. Mac Jones 2023 is a shell of that player.
Agree. Mentally weak. I’m afraid you either are or you aren’t mentally strong. Can’t be taught. I’m sure you can lose it … but looks like Mac never had it.

Bring in TB12 as EVP football ops, let him pick everything.

Give him a little equity for doing it.

Karma = back on our side
