Mac is a modern day Tony Eason. Eason was a promising young QB until he started to get killed by bad o-line play and then he started to see ghosts and became a train wreck.

I blame Mac for not having the stones for overcoming all of it, but a lot of the blame is on Belichick who did everything possible to ruin the guy. If we had 2021 Mac Jones, we might still be in contention. Mac Jones 2023 is a shell of that player.

Mac never did anything more than look ok/decent against bad teams his rookie year and he crumbled by the end of that year anyway. Stop trying to rewrite history to save face over your horrible assessment of him.

Agree. Zero value in any more wins this year. The argument about “creating loser culture” has 1.) already happened, 2.) assumes many of these players will be around next year.

I want MASSIVE roster turnover.

I don’t think they’ll ever catch the Panthers (that team is truly awful), but they will probably still be in a good spot even if they win a couple more games. I think Arizona will win a few more, and Chicago probably wins one or two more. The Giants suck but Pats have a 2 game lead on them now, and they might squeak out one more win too.

I think even if Pats finish with 4 or 5 wins they’re probably getting no worse than the 4th pick.

I am talking about making Zappe functional. Not winning games. You cannot not win many or any games with a dumbed down offense and an one read QB with this roster. Almost every throw that Zappe made today that was not a quick read ended up picked or had the potential to be picked.

NE does not have an NFL QB on it’s roster. We’ve know that for weeks if not months now.

One thing I will give Patricia credit for is that he could see that Zappe cannot read defenses and dumbed down the offense for him to be able to have quick reads and not have to think too much. That is why he drove down the field on his first drive in the second half today. He just had to throw to his first read.

The Pats cannot go back to Mac again. So they are forced to go with Zappe until they can find a replacement. O'Brien is going to have to do what Patricia did and dumb down the offense for Zappe. It will only work so long, but you cannot leave him up to his own devises.

Best outcome would be #2 but as low as 5 or 6 possible.

What are your thoughts on this TD from last year? It clearly wasn't the 1st read, and he read the defense just fine.

It was one play and it was his second read. And it was an easy read to make since Thornton had a step on his man. Show me a play where he has to quickly go down multiple check downs and find a receiver in a more difficult coverage.

people in here think losing games and getting a rookie QB for next season is some recipe to get back in the playoffs next season or at least be respectable. The ******* coach has formed a team with NO top end talent on either side of the ball. does Caleb Williams or Drake Maye turn this into a 10 win team throwing to JuJu Sanu, Davante Parker, Douglas, aand Thornton?
And know what, if this dip **** coach is still here, I say there's no guarantee he starts a rookie QB.

Jets if they keep losing and Rodgers doesn't come back is one. Chargers have found a way to dissapoint a lot. Broncos and Steelers could be wins in the right circumstance.

Agree with the Jests game but IMO, I don’t see NE pulling off wins in Pitt or Den this year, with this team. Maybe if they are home games, maybe. And I guess it depends on which Chargers team shows up.

Don’t disagree on positioning, other than I believe top two is disproportionately huge because some team may be willing to give a silly ransom to get Maye or Williams. That kind of capital can reboot a team faster.

I do not believe this team is a QB away.

Rebuild the trenches, get a few separators, a real LB and sprinkle in some pros in FA and it’s likely an 8-9 win team next year on the rise
