Agreed. Maye should be on our radar.
They are either going to have too put some pieces around Mac as he's on a team friendly rookie deal.. or daft another kid while Mac's still here and develop him.

Or you move Mac in the offseason draft your qb and sign a vet as a placeholder. Not sure how the dynamic will work if Mac is still here knowing we drafted his replacement. Probably best for all parties to give Mac a fresh start somewhere else.

I hate watching Mac. The reason people liked Zappe is he’d at least attempt to throw for first downs and make higher risk throws. Mac is such a ****y as he appears content throwing well short of the target like he did his “job” knowing there’s almost no way the WR will actually pick it up.

I am not going to tread into the Kontra banning since I have no idea what he did.

But whether Ian was right or wrong for banning him, it is unfair to accuse him of ulterior motives for doing so. He has been running this site for over two decades and I have never seen him wield the gavel based on his personal biases. He has banned people I know he liked and had a hard time doing so. And I am sure there are people he would love to never see on this site ever again and would ban if he did use his power unethically.

Ian has always tried to run this site in a way that everyone can enjoy it and has some things that he has a zero tolerance policy about. Any long time poster knows them. He does that for the good of the board and not his political or other beliefs.

Yes. This. At least Zappe would play. Mac Jones is one of the most boring players I’ve ever seen at the position.

The patriots would be a playoff team this year if only they had drafted xxxx instead of yyy?

I will start;

AJ Brown instead of Nkeal Harry

I think you’re wrong right there. AJ wanted to get paid and was traded. He wouldn’t have gotten paid here and he’d be elsewhere

Last week people were saying Dugger wasn't worth keeping. He had a great game today. There are a lot of good young players on this team. It would be brainless to get rid of the young talent here. And hardly anyone is old. It's a very young team. A youth movement in New England would mean players with diapers.
It's the 2nd oldest team in the league behind NO.

It’s incredible that you have a rookie QB contract, are in year 4 of a “rebuild,” have the second oldest roster, have almost no young assets or trade-able players, and are 2-6. It takes some genius.

Did you include his during Tom Brady record of 14-6?
That proves that Bill can be decent without Tom. But the issue is that long term
Belichick isn’t the only historically good coach to be way less successful without his all world QB.

But I bet he is the only coach who would have thought last seasons offensive coaching fiasco was a good idea….

The main problems are:

Other historically great coaches have actually had some deep playoff runs (Landry made 3x NFC title games, for instance). Bill has just 1 playoff win, and 0x division titles. The difference

And Belichick's philosophy just doesn't hold up over a long period of time without Brady. If you can't draft WR, don’t like paying a premium for star players, and you aren't particularly liked by a lot of your players, and you make ego-based decisions, then you're generally asking A LOT out of your QB both on the field and in the locker room.

Brady made that look more effective than it should have been.

Makes sense. Would you trade him at the deadline?

Bill still winless vs. the gender ambiguous coach/left-handed QB combo.

And @Kontradiction banned. Another great day, things just keep getting better here. /s

Good. It’s about time that scumbag was banned. Hopefully it’s permanent. This isn’t the first time that he has gone over the line and made comments about other poster’s family members.

Back in early 2022, we were arguing back-and-forth about some topic and things got a little bit heated. Kontra decided to take it two levels lower and for no reason other that being a nasty, despicable person at his core wrote multiple lewd comments about my wife in posts. In 15 years as a member here, I had never sent a message directly to Ian to complain about another poster but this time I did, because he disrespected a family member. Not sure if he was suspended at that time but he should’ve been.

F*ck that guy. Good riddance.

We lost to a better team. It really is that simple. MIA will be a playoff team that is likely to win the division.

We've been a 50% team since Brady left. Folks thinks that this means that we should trade all our players. My guess is that over the past four years, half the teams in the NFL are 50-50 teams.

It takes a bit of time to build a team. We are not entitled to more SB wins. 12 teams have never won a SB. We're just a bunch of spoiled fans. Everyone believes that Brady was the reason we won, and that we had little talent when he left. OK. So, it takes time to build, PLUS a team has to be very lucky in order to get a top QB.
============================
My BOTTOM LINE is that of we had no injuries at OL, we'd likely be competing for the playoffs, especially if we had one of Judon or Gonzalez available. I don't think that we should sell or cut almost the entire team because we had OL injuries and injuries to Judon and Gonzalez. And just BTW, we have the toughest or close to the toughest schedules in the NFL.
=======================
ENOUGH RANTING FOR TODAY!
My real bottom line is that this team could be competing for the playoffs next year with no changes other than extending all of our free agents and drafting a QB in the first round and a couple of OT's in the early rounds. If this analysis is even close to right, then this team is far from being the worst team in the league. We are an average, a 50% team. If we find a QB, we'll be in the playoffs regularly. That is better than most teams.

No, people liked Zappe for the same reason they liked Stidham when Cam was here. They didn't like that we were losing with the guy on the field and wanted to buy into the hope of a magic savior being on the bench that just needs his chance. Lot's of losing teams have had their fanbase fall into that trap over the years of talking up some mediocre nobody on the bench because he's not the current guy out there losing.

Zappe is demonstrably worse than Mac and Mac isn't good, so that should tell you something about Zappe. The QB of the future isn't here. And some people should get used to the idea that he might not even be the next guy we bring in.

I differ with some of you guys in that I think there are plenty of good players on this roster. The problem is a black hole at quarterback and lousy coaching. I suppose the coaching might improve, don't know. This quarterback won't.
