Totally agree .. even a blind squirrel gets a nut every once in awhile. This is from "i get the sense" , "i get the feeling" breer . he has zero sources...not saying its true but these kind reports of filler for what might happen so he can get some credit later.
Kraft will say and do anything to avoid confrontation and save face. How many times did Kraft say that if it was up to him Brady would not leave?
"I love Tom Brady but I'm mad he left." When Robert Kraft told LeSean McCoy that he was upset Bill Belichick let former Patriots QB walk
Tom Brady propelled the New England Patriots to unparalleled success. And Robert Kraft wishes he didn't have to leave.thesportsrush.com
We won't know the whole truth until years from now. Brady did not help himself selling TB12 plans to the team.
If RK has already decided on Mayo as BB replacement doesn't that hamstring any potential GM candidate? I mean the GM usually picks the HCThey'll give it to Mayo and he'll fall flat on his face, what's the difference between him and every other Belichick clone who sucks?
It's pointless firing Bill and giving it to "Bill Jr", that's like moving on from your wife and living with her family, the best bit about the Mayo hype is the credit he gets when the defense has a good game but when it sucks it's cause of Steve Belichick
Well said … the New England media is nothing more than a bunch of jack off suck pumps making hay off of a job that must be incredibly hard. Couldn’t imagine dealing with all the Prima Donna overpaid athletes and then on top it all having to take accountability for them. I get it he hired/drafted them, I’m don’t believe for the most part today’s professional athletes put winning above all else. He's made his bed with the media, so now he's gotta lie in it. They've waited 20 years to stick it too him. IMO fans should be defending him, but too many listen to sports radio and get wrapped up in the negativity surrounding Bill.
It's an ugly way to finish, much like Tom Landry and Coughlin before him. The man is a legend, and as poorly as it's ending, the next man surely will not lead the team to 6 more super bowls. But let's run the old bastard out of here and make sure everyone knows what a douche nozzle he is.
It's sad. Everyone has turned on him, forgetting all that was accomplished here.
Curious to know how that conversation would go. Maybe one day it’ll be revealed in his autobiography.Anything from Breer is speculation. He is a ****ty reporter.
...but I do think this is real in the sense RKK wants to separate from BB in a respectful, amicable way.
It will be a 5hitshow where Kraft changes the HC or GM every few years. Usually from players HC to disciplinarian HC. From offense GM to defense GM.If RK has already decided on Mayo as BB replacement doesn't that hamstring any potential GM candidate? I mean the GM usually picks the HC
That's called PR. Not rehashing this again. How many times did Kraft say that if it was up to him Brady would not leave?

I don't like this line of thinking. It's not about expecting another similar run. It is about running a competent program that actually looks like it's improving or might be capable of becoming a winner. It’s just their turn. Most teams have had their lows. It was an absurd run of 20 years but some fans can’t accept it’s inevitable to end at some point. Lot of stellar franchises have shoveled **** over the years. Cowboys, 49ers, KC and many more. Just blows me away how entitled and spoiled our fans are by a once in a lifetime QB.
I agree with 1 and 2 but I think Mayo can make a fine HC. If you listen to him in interviews he exudes leadership, knowledge, confidence and intellect. I think he will have a good chance of becoming a really good HC so I want him to get his shot here first.I've been consistent in my attitude all along:
1) Belichick is demonstrably incompetent when it comes to roster building and GM work generally. He must be fired from thi GM position and be denied any role in such responsibilities from the present moment forward. He should, that is, have no say - aside from whatever weight the new GM chooses to give to his views - in any GM decisions, starting now. If I were in a position to advise the Krafts, I would advise them to secure the services of an NFL experienced consultant or two, a person who may or may not be a candidate for replacement GM, based on performance.
2) If Bill declines to continue as HC unless he retains the GM role, he must be fired from both jobs. Though I would be willing to consider his continuing in the HC role only, I would, given his dismal management of the roster/playing time, his lousy in-game tactical decisions, the sloppy and penalty ridden manner of the team, and so on be willing to have him continue as HC only on a probationary basis. If he were to choose to resign as both HC and GM, I would say with some regret that that would not be much of a loss for the team at all at this point in his decline. I do understand he is unlikely to wish to continue on this probatiionary basis. I don't care.
3) If we are to hire a new coach, I would hope Mayo would have no greater chance at the job than anyone else. I have concerns over his somnambulant manner, and over the difficulties he may have in dissociating his approach from the failed Belechick approach in which he has now lived and worked over his entire career. Finally, like others, I think we need an offensive HC with a legit passion for and expertise in the new, evolving approaches to the game.
Yep. I don't know enough yet about him to disagree. I would only say that I do think other candidtes should start out with an equal shot at winning the job. That seems to me simply part and parcel of due diligence in a hiring situation. This sort of issue comes up a lot in hiring: how does one handle an internal candidate for a job? Some regard any special considerations of such candidates as unethical, yet it's a fact that you do know more about such people than you do about external candidates and that sometimes knowing the person better can make for a secure judgment. In some instances, I believe there are even legal injunctions against giving preference to internal candidates. The cleanest and safest thing is to have everybody start with a clean slate, at least in theory, lol. There are rasons for concern re any candidate, after all. Maybe Mayo just has the (temporary) disadvantage that we are more aware of concerns over his candidacy, simply because to some degree we know him, and do not know his competitors.I agree with 1 and 2 but I think Mayo can make a fine HC. If you listen to him in interviews he exudes leadership, knowledge, confidence and intellect. I think he will have a good chance of becoming a really good HC so I want him to get his shot here first.
When I hire, people I don't know have to impress me significantly more than candidates I know. Not because of favoritism but because I know a lot more about people I have dealt with than a stranger after an hour interview. There is a lot more risk associated with an unknown.Yep. I don't know enough yet about him to disagree. I would only say that I do think other candidtes should start out with an equal shot at winning the job. Look at the Jets for a glimpse into the Pats future.
Joe Judge and Matt Patricia exuded so much leadership, knowledge, confidence and intellect in interviews they both landed HC jobs.....and flamed out spectacularly. In fact most BB disciples flame out spectacularly.I agree with 1 and 2 but I think Mayo can make a fine HC. If you listen to him in interviews he exudes leadership, knowledge, confidence and intellect. I think he will have a good chance of becoming a really good HC so I want him to get his shot here first.
In the real world there is value in ability, patience and stability. Every organization has ups and downs. When you compete in an environment that penalizes success and gives advantages for failure (salary cap, draft) you can’t always be on top.Pretty stupid mistake if Kraft decides to move on from BB after this season.
Three different offenses in 3 season is asking a lot, probably too much. I'm still seeing some hangover effect from last season in the all 22.
