Should have been 8 and the only Super Bowl threepeat in history but benching Malcolm Butler and keeping him on the sidelines to watch the goof troop starring Jordan Richards get clowned by Nick Foles was a better idea I guess.

Jordan Richards another 2nd round draft bust. I don't think people realize that Bill instead of drafting the best player just reaching in the 1st and 2nd round for years is what got us here.

You don't get this bad from 1 or 2 bad drafts. It's 10 years of bad drafting. Bill was living on good drafts from 2010-2012 and then just failed for 10 years to find adequate replacements for guys retiring.

When you have a great team already with Brady at the helm. Whiffing on a pick or reaching wont hurt you much in short term. It's when it comes time for those guys to retire or be paid and you have no one to replace them.

Gronk -ben Watson
Brady-newton
White-nobody.

The list can go on and on. Bill used to be good at drafting someone's replacement. Not sure what happened

I am amazed that BB always said a back up QB is the best insurance policy a team can have, yet now employs 2 or 2.5 QB's on the roster that he does not want to play.

Yeah that was an amazing pick. Taking a guy in the 2nd round that probably could have been signed as an undrafted free agent. Wheee.

I still think the plan was Brady --> Stidham and when it was clear Stidham was not what Bill for some reason thought he was, then Newton was a panic signing. That doesn't make it any better obviously.

The draft rotation is four years, five (for 1st-rounders) at most.
With the 2014-18 run, the Pats were taking shots with terrible draft capital, because, frankly, few rookies were even going to make the team. The Bill is bad at drafting take is overrated.

What BB is terrible at is in recognizing that the players coming out of college now are very different. Colleges are playing pro-style...these guys are ready to go. Most will make mistakes, many of them, but the only way to get those mistakes out of them is to have them do it IN LIVE PLAY.

Boutte doesn't drag his foot, so he sits for weeks...he was getting open, which seems to be antithetical to the Patriots' offensive strategy of late, but whatever. The kid should be out there getting targeted a lot.

I'm really tired of seeing players suddenly stepping forward in their 3rdyears - Uche and now Jennings come to mind - after sitting behind mediocre vets...and now you have to pay them and guess whether it was flash in in the pan, or if they're really getting there.
The Patriots drafting philosophy for years was (rightly so, and they have the rings to prove it) to find diamonds in the rough, or grab players that actually have a certain skill set that will get them on the field in certain situations, even if their overall ceiling isn't great.

That all had to change when the dynasty ended. now they need juice. They've done that defensively, repeatedly, but they're still shopping for comfort food on offense. Mac ain't Tom.

And there's Gostkowski-->Folk-->Rohrwasser-->Folk-->Ryland

Yikes

No.

All Brady.

You've seen in the last 3 years what a good defense and a **** qb gets you.

No playoffs.
We’ve seen endless examples of a great QB and a bad defense.

Drew Brees led the entire NFL in passing three years (2014-2016) in a row, his offense was top five in scoring. The Saints defense was dead last or near dead last every season…

No playoffs.

It’s a team game.

Learn the game.

But you've been saying that if we just got a better QB it would fix the leagues worst offensive line, one of the most unproductive running games, receivers who get the least seperation in the league, and a special teams that is last in DVOA.

So I think we just got to give Brady all the credit if the QB just can fix a team that much
DVOA is a worthless stat.

Brady played with some exceptional O-Lines over his career, both in NE and Tampa.

Our line isn’t nearly as bad as they seem, when you’re no threat to pass, it makes it that much harder to run. We don’t need another Brady, I’d take Purdy or Goff at this point.

Brady doesn’t owe anything to anyone, he’s the GOAT and players > coach.

BB owes his HOF resume to Brady.
If Arizona and their league worst O-Line drafted Tom, he’d be a salesman with a bad limp living in Pomona.

But that didn't happen. What did happen was Brady singlehandedly turning around a team and HC who had a poor start to his career in NE at 5-13 and turned his team into a dynasty and the coach into a first ballot HOFer lock.

Ask this guy he'll tell you.

Brady threw a single TD in the entire 2001 postseason… that was a power run team with a great defense.

Tom with Weis holding his hand provided more efficient level of play than Bledsoe but the team around both QB’s also got better.

Take Adam Vinitieri off that team and they lose… then the legend of TB12 never happens. But keep up the fantasy…

Bill should learn to draft. If it's a team game then it's blasphemy how he treats the offensive side of the team.

Before Brady started: 0-2 and the team doing down the drain
After: Went 14-3 the rest of the way and won the Super Bowl.

Make of that what you will. I don't think we need to take anyone off the team, that's a fantasy and reality is they won with Brady. I don't think Vinatieri could have made the championship winning FG without Brady and the offense driving them downfield with all the pressure on.

I thought this thread was about Malik Cunningham? Why is Tom Brady being pitted against BB and the rest of the team yet again? PatsFans.com has jumped the shark. So much hysteria and freaking out about a football team/BB/TB12.

Carry on.

i would gladly trade having an explosive offense and exciting games where we might lose because the defense gives up some points over this bull **** 20 points total over the span of 3 games. Worst offense in the league. On pace to be the worst offense in nfl history, with a defense thats so banged up it can't stop backup quarterbacks.

It's amazing how people think Kickers teleport into position to make kicks. Regarding 2001, they don't make the playoffs without Brady stabilizing the QB position. He didn't light the league on fire or anything, but he was competent and kept the chains moving when they needed it. It's quite shocking for a QB that played as long as he did at such a high level and it's still being debated.

I get the feeling Kraft is stalking fan sites and making Bill do things accordingly.
He made Bill bring up Malik, and they had to show why he's not ready.
But, let's hope Kraft gets the memo on Parker & JSS - and forces BB to only play the young fast guys from here out.

I don't expect Malik to be on the 53 next year. He has only a $200K guarantee. The 3 years is team friendly, just in case he actually is good enough to be on the 53 in 2024 and/or 2025.

Let's hope BB benches Parker for that drop I am sure he saw the tape.

Same team that was supposedly keen on Patriots' highly rated 1st round draft targets N'Keal Harry and Cole Strange?

Agents manipulating Bill & Co........

And how ****tsdirt was going to draft BoneyT instead of Pickens if Bill & Al Groh's kid didn't beat them to him...

We know what Mac is. Forget the meltdowns of the last 2 weeks he still has plenty of upside on the right team...

I don't think that's true, at all. He would be better on a better team; but he would still soil himself in critical moments.
