That was at least 3 seconds - a QB, in their end zone, should never hold the ball that long.
I 100% intend to nitpick. That was not 3 seconds. That was closer to 2 maybe 2.5

Officially last place behind the Jets. Ok, Giant Meteor, let's wrap this thing up.

A year too early is better than a year too late. Unless his name is Devante Parker , then its 3 more years
Bob has to pull the plug after this season. Even if they land a top QB in draft, it's not a guarantee he will be any good. But if he is, it will still take 2-3 years at minimum before they are a contender again.

I understand your goal. I agree with it.

I just don't think that we have enough solid players on Offense to make this work. I suppose all this changes if we use our top pick on a QB and he works out as a rookie.
I am making an assumption that one of Mafi or Sow develop by next year into an okay starting right guard to replace Onwenu, and Strange gets healthy and returns to solid output. Then your IOL is fine but you really still need two starting tackles which will be difficult to navigate, but possible. At receiver, Douglas should be good and Boutte might develop. Thornton still has some level of potential. You need depth and a top guy, and you are devoid of TEs which is also a situation. And obviously, the QB is a question. However, even just finding answers at some of these positions goes a long way and they have opportunities to do it. Let’s say they do get a top pick and their new staff drafts Drake Maye. That could go a really long way. Throw several darts at tackles, receivers and tight ends, and sign a few veterans to shore up areas of concern as well in free agency. It may not be fixed in one year but you can make some real progress, especially with a last place schedule.

The ekephant in the room- Did Matt Patricia shoulder too much of the blame last year?
Looks like the team was just bad
I think it's clear the bigger problem last year was the OL and OL coaching. Patricia and Klemm in charge of both units. Sure the receivers can't separate either but man that unit has sucked the last 2 years

I think great to legendary is a must….look at Andy Reid’s record without Mahomes and Bruce Arians before Brady….
Oh yeah, Shula had Unitas, Griese and Marino, Walsh had Montana, Knoll had Bradshaw etc. No doubt the qb matters. Bears, Giants, Redskins and Ravens all time defenses with running games and capable qbs. Except the Ravens 1st and Tampa Bay. Those qbs were awful.

He went through 2 even if just touching them that makes it 2 seconds and then before and after them. I don't see how that's not 3 seconds.

He also had Stevenson wide open and he would have picked up 5-7 yards.

I think Patricia dumbed down the offense because it may have actually been the right fit for some of the personnel… It wasn’t flashy or particularly creative but it was at least more productive than this junk.

Maroney in 2006 less than 800 yards. Dillon in 2006 800 yards. Stevenson last year was 1k. Now imagine him with Brady instead of stacked boxes with Mac. Caldwell had 760 yards on 100+ targets. Meyer 800 yards on 96 targets. Henry 500 yards. Watson 640 yards. When you add Brady vs Mac it is clear.

2013 - No rusher had more than 750 yards. By the end of the year it was Edelman and the lousy rookies.
Stevenson is not on pace for 1k this year. None of the RB's are on pace to outrpoduce the guys I mentioned even with the extra game.

Dillon and Maroney were flat out playing better. You can MAYBE argue that it was due to a much better offensive line.... but that's because they had a good offensive line and this one is the worst in the league.

You can't make the argument Stevenson is showing better technique than either of these guys. You can't make the argument that WR's are getting better seperation and less drops than the guys in the years you mentioned.

You are just using Brady as a god of the gaps when nothing about their individual production or play is showing them to be better.

2006 and 2013 had better offenses. Even if you flat out just look at them having better offensive lines as opposed to the worst in the league.

AND.... that is just looking at offense. The 2023 Patriots also have the worst DVOA on special teams when those teams had much better special teams. That's a whole unit that has nothing to do with the QB.

This is one of the worst teams in the NFL. Point blank. Everyone knows it.

I accept that you're still holding out hope for Mac Jones to rebound.

But I'm done hearing defenses for this kid. He just "ain't that guy." And nothing he has shown in 2023 convinces me to the contrary.
I didn't say "he's the guy" - you're missing the point. The point is, it's Week 6, and "the guy" may not be available for 1-2 years, or longer. Jones can be adequate enough to be what they need to buy them time to find the guy. Because they don't have a better option on the roster, unless Grier is any better at outrunning defensive lineman.

I just went by the timer on the video, the play starts at 0:01 and he's hitting Mac with 0:03 on the clock lol

Patricia tends to be hyper conservative. It helps less athleticly skilled teams but is an anchor on better teams who can be let loose. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Patricia made the offense a little more fail proof last year while giving them a low ceiling and now BOB is trying to run a more average offense and realizing he doesn't have the guys capable of doing it.

I think that MOST of the Qb's would have done poorly with our offense in the past three weeks.

I think that you are frustrated because mac improved, and would have won easily with even a mediocre OL.

I’m not frustrated at all. I’m normally pretty upbeat and positive when it comes to this team. I’ve seen enough to know he’s just not the answer. They will rebuild the offense and I’m a fan no matter what.

Mahomes never made a playoff without Kelce. Allen never made one without Diggs, Burrow never made one without Chase and might not this year with him lol, Herbert has better talent and never made the playoffs. Hoyers been in the league for years and he led one team to the playoffs... that team had Hopkins who was an All Pro and one of the premier WR's for that era of the league lol.

So you failed to meet the challenge. You have not provided a single QB that has proven objectively they could lead less talented offenses than this one to the playoffs.

In fact.... you listed 4 of the 5 you listed have only ever made the playoffs with either a All Pro level WR or All Pro TE. The only one who didn't have an All Pro on his roster was Herbert. Who has routinely had Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen lol.... and he only made it once with them lol.

So congratulations you proved my point.

Even today Hoyer had Adams, the former best WR on the Patriots last year and Jacobs and barely beat one of the worst teams in the league.

Like I said, all cards on the table you just don't have reality on your side.
LOL, oh my God, remind me not to take you seriously ever again.

Especially your take that with 1:50 left in a game a team shouldn't throw in the middle of the field. PLEASE

Tough to design an offense around no protection, no pocket presence, weak arm, and no WRs.
