Mac Jones Through 2 Games (2021 vs 2022 vs 2023) By QTR and Redzone Totals

Have you been watching this year? Teams would love, absolutely love, the Pats to run the ball right now. Stevenson has 2.8 YPC. Elliot has 3.5 YPC. Currently, the Patriots are 26th in rushing yards and 21st in YPC. The Pats are currently 7th in passing yards and 11th in completion percentage. Right now the team's "strength" is in the passing game, not the running game.
YES

Defenses are dropping back in coverage because they fear Corky. That's it. The NE RBs are the real reason why the Pats lose.

Thanks for the laugh.

Did I say that? I said the Patriots right now are a far better passing team than running team. I never said either was something that opposing defenses fear. Opposing defense would just rather the Pats run the ball because it is extremely easy to defend right now and would lead to a lot of short and unproductive drives. Defenses would be licking their chops if the Pats decided to go with a run heavy offensive gameplan with how bad the o-line is blocking on run downs.

That is your problem. You don't even read what other people write and make up what you want to believe other people said to fit your narrative.

You are proving my point about the extreme partisanship when it comes to Mac Jones.

We just need Mac to put the Team on his back and pull a game out. That could become contagious let's hope it starts on Sunday. There no doubt he has improve some but there's room to get even better.

Agreed, but let's hope it starts in 2 Sundays from now against the Cowboys. This Sunday should be a blowout.

This is coaching. This team has, for years now, come out in Q1 not ready to play. It's really hard to win when you routinely spot the other team 25% of the game.
To some degree... It's also game play... what's the axiom? Players play.

You're talking to someone who thinks Crappy Zappy is better than Mac Jones and should be the starter. Lol

Maybe the Pats should trade Mac, play Crappy Zappy, then after they finish with maybe 1 win for the season they'll have their choice of Caleb Williams or another top QB prospect next April. A Belichick checkers chess kind of thing...

It is quickly becoming discussing Mac Jones is like arguing politics. The partisanship on him is just as bad it is Republican vs. Democrat. And extreme views seem to squash any actual debate. Any debate is a point of futile "shouting" at one another. I admit I am a part of it.

I will stick by my long standing view. We still don't know what we have in the guy. He has shown he has the potential to be an above average QB or even be a top 10 QB with the right pieces around him. But unfortunately, Belichick refuses to put him in position to succeed.

Until they get the o-line fixed, we are never going to know what he is because it is god awful. Because of the o-line, they aren't running the play action at all and whenever Mac is under center, defenses know it is a running play. They cannot allow Mac to turn his back to the defense because the o-line let too many free rushers through. They don't have time to allow plays to develop down field and they don't had fast receivers. How can you judge a QB when you are forced to throw a lot of quick screens because you don't trust the o-line to hold up for much more than two seconds.
That's really a fairly level headed take on the kid.

Both teams have good D's and bad O's. I'm guessing it will be like that game where the Pats won on a walkoff punt return. Low score but the Pats win because the Jets have the worst QB in the league (outside of Mac if you listen to some people around here).

I see a low scoring game for that reason. Important to stop Hall though they've never faced him before.

Okay. Hit me up in the Game Day Thread after he throws one more pass and we'll get your take on the stats.

He has over 1000 pass attempts in his career. Isolating 7 red zone attempts over two games is far from compelling.

If he needs elite talent than we have to do what the Rams did and go all in for one Super Bowl. I don't think any of us want that. I would rather draft another QB this year and continue the search for an elite QB.
and we could be searching for the next 20 years

elite QBs dont fall out of trees, you usually need a top 10-15 pick to have any shot at one and even then, its still a huge crap shoot (ie; Zach Wilson as recent example)

You just said anything more than 7 is compelling. 8, according to you, is.

We'll probably draft another QB anyway in April, that's what Bill does every year even in the Brady era.

I wonder what the Panthers think of Bryce Young so far?

IF things don't improve it could get Ugly quickly if Teams know all they have to do is get a lead on you. With this tough Schedule the Defense won't be able to overcome bad Offensive plays. It's stated but most Teams are running an innovative Offense: we don't seem to be Run - Quick pass to WR or RB and Screen pass to anybody. Those Three plays or really keeping DC's up at night OCBOB have to improve that. The similarities to Fat Matt Offense is just erie.

Do you think the patchwork O-line is limiting the types of plays they can call?
