Key Players [Mac Jones/others] Isn't/Aren't Ready to Play

I mean, that’s just not a ‘threat’ that I can be too scared of coming to fruition.

Wait, is this an argument that Mac Jones is better than all of these guys? Because if so, the koolaid is getting strong AF.
this is an arguement that we're two weeks in and Mac is playing statistically comparable(with less offensive talent around him), and it's unlikely that the other teams fans are calling for their heads.

why don't we chill the **** out. There are no FA quarterbacks that would be an upgrade. this is macs third offense in three season the offense line is in shambles, and they signed juju instead of his favorite target last year jacoby myers, and now juju is only playing 50% of the plays.

The teams a ****ing dumpster fire, so excuse me if im sick of people *****ing about mac, they have been *****ing since before the kid was drafted.

My point is that BB is in charge of "buying the groceries" and also for "cooking the meal". If the team has a lack of talent (most glaringly on offense), how is that Mac's fault. He's not Tom Brady who can elevate mediocre and poor players. Very few QB's are.
Nobody is Tom Brady except Tom Brady but I’d be pretty confident about getting a W out of that game with at LEAST half the other QBs in the league, from a dominant W to squeaking one out, depending.

I mean, there’s no point in going in circles. Just put me down as wanting to move on from Mac Jones. Not a fan. Don’t consider him a very enjoyable player to watch.

Well, yeah. A GM that can bring in the likes of Hill and Waddle will make Mac a league darling just like it did for Tua.
My comment was more an indictment on the lengths Mac apologists will go to move the goalposts and defend him than it was a defense of Belichick's roster management.

For all Mac doubters , a great article to illustrate what happened yesterday .. the offensive line is such a &#&$&$& that we can't objectively evaluate any QB. Tom Brady must be thanking his stars that he isn't playing for the pats any more. This is a QB graveyard the way the roster is constructed. Bill , that's on you.

Yep, Holley really nailed it. This quote in particular is the winner:
It's gotten to the point -- or, actually, it's kind of been at this point for more than a year -- that if you simply explain the reality of the situation for the quarterback, then you are "making excuses" or you're a "Mac apologist" or some other thinly veiled insult based on who knows what. And while seemingly everybody wants to make grand conclusions on Mac Jones as an NFL quarterback, the situation remains the same: YOU SIMPLY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH EVIDENCE TO MAKE THAT DETERMINATION. HE HASN'T BEEN ON A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD SINCE HIS ROOKIE YEAR (WHEN HE WAS ACTUALLY, YOU KNOW, GOOD!).
The Mac hatred here is unbelievable. I can understand the troll feeding frenzy, but the "fans" here attacking Mac are just foolish.

You just need to look at last nights game.

Mac Jones: 31/42, 73%, 231 yards, 5.5 average, 1TD, 1INT, 84.5 passer rating

Tua Tagovailoa: 21/30, 70%, 249 yards, 8.3 average, 1TD, 1INT, 92.2 passer rating

Those aren't wildly different numbers and nobody in Miami is upset at Tua despite having the nearly the same game despite having

-a better #1 receiver than anyone on the Pats and probably the best WR in the league
-a #2 receiver who is better than any pass catcher on the Pats
-Mostert playing a better game at RB than both of the Pats premeir rushers combined.
-a better offensive line that actually gave him time.

Are we watching the same games? Let’s not pretend he’s poised out there and casually steps up into the pocket Jesus c’mon

And his throws on the run are almost always off the mark.
No, Obviously we're not watching the same games:

Mac Jones is 6-of-9 for 55 yards and a touchdown while under pressure. 120.1 rating.

65% accuracy is "always off the mark" to you.

Yes, it says that Mac doesn't do what most QBs should, which is alter cadence, making the snap count less predictable, he bails and cowers, and invites defenses to tee off.

It's a Mac thing, not an OL thing.

You surprise me. I took you for someone with more discernment re. what you're seeing (or THINK you're seeing). Mac is playing well overall considering the musical chairs in front of him and what he has to work with on the outside -- which impacts both available protections and the rushing attack. That's not to say he hasn't made some mistakes these first two games but your overall assessment doesn't mesh with reality.

"He's jittery, he's skittish, he's throwing off his back foot. He's taking bad sacks. No wonder he's so inaccurate. His long throws are lollipops that bounce off the moon. There is zero confidence he can get anything done back there." Nonsense.

"He bails and cowers and invites defenses to tell off." More nonsense.

"Mac doesn't do what most QBs should, which is alter his cadence." Huh? You can tell this through your TV? If you think BOB and Mac haven't adequately assessed this part of his game you should overnight BB an application for quarterbacks coach.

There's a difference between "taking bad sacks" and getting sacked. He has the most pass attempts in the league after two games and has been releasing the ball quickly. With rushers constantly in his face he's been sacked six times total while completing 69-percent of his throws for 547 yards -- sixth among all quarterbacks. All that while playing behind an absolute shambles of an OL.

It's early. Don't look now (well, maybe you SHOULD look), but Mac Jones currently has a higher quarterback rating than Patrick Mahomes, Trevor Lawrence, Joe Burrow, Ryan Tannehill and DeShaun Watson, among others.

Purdy is a great example playing behind very good OL in SF and has great WR…..and D….. put Purdy behind this office of line he would be picking turf out of his teeth
We’re slowly but surely joining the other fan bases in alternate dimension time-travel arguments.

How is that moving the goalposts?

dude someone posted the stats and under pressure mac had something like a 120 qb rating. the people who think he panics under pressure are mentally unwell and don't see reality as it actually is.
I don’t have pff premium so it’s hard to find stats but I did find an unlocked article.

Through week 7 last year, Josh Allen ranked 4th with a 66.4 grade under pressure (for comparison). Mac ranked 31st with a 24 grade. Only slightly higher than Zach Wilson’s 23.1 grade.

I strongly doubt the 120 passer rating under pressure is even close to accurate

Those "under pressure" stats are from this year. Not last year.

The issue with the OL is that Mac folds and panics the second he sees any pressure coming, so defenses have no worry about throwing 5-6 guys at him. **** they don’t even need to blitz and he panics.

They know he’s not going to tear apart a defense that does that.

Mac rarely picks up the blitz. When they do get pressure he runs outside the pocket like a first time Madden player (except he has no speed). They also know he’s horribly inaccurate on deep throws so they don’t need to play back and worry about the HR ball.

it doesn’t matter if they’re playing a good team or a bad team, you’re always going to get a sluggish offense with Mac trying to dink and dunk down the field which CAN work if you also have a threat of a deep ball to keep the defense honest.

Sure, everyone would like an all-pro line or the best receiver in the league, but the Dolphins came into the season with the 20th best line rank (pff) and they showed it in week 1. Yet Tua’s insanely quick release made him only get sacked once this season despite facing 16 blitz in two games.

We all see it but for some reason people are still in denial and want to blame anything BUT Mac lol.
The stats don't support your argument. Sometimes you Mac haters try too hard, not sure if you're making stuff up or what.

PFF my dude
Also I appreciate you quoting stats for the season when the patriots had a defensive signal caller running our offense and offensive line, which then resulted in the patriots hiring two coaches to replace him

How is that moving the goalposts?
Because we had the same coach and GM last year but countless people said Mac's inadequacies would correct themselves with a competent OC.

Now Mac has a competent OC and some of these same people are now saying Mac's inadequacies will correct themselves with a competent coach/GM (to varying degrees).
