I wonder if this is a sign that BB's willingness to cut a player and bring in a backup lit a fire under Zappe's butt and that he showed enough improvement in these past nine days that the coaching staff thought he was worthy of the backup job? Or did Corral just not impress at all?
My guess is 9 days is not enough time to grasp enough of the playbook to go out and play with any confidence let alone competence.

I doubt Zappe improved significantly in 9 days. I mean he the entire off-season to learn the offence and he is far from having a full grasp of it.

The only place where the ceremony will be available live and in its entirety is a live stream on Patriots.com. Ch. 4, which has the television broadcast of the 4:25 p.m. game, had been hoping to show the Brady tribute in full and had put in a request with CBS in New York to do so, but it could not be arranged.

The Patriots have kept specifics about the ceremony close to the vest, but the team announced that they will stream the ceremonies with Brady live on Patriots.com at halftime of the game.

Of course New York doesn't approve of the request....

He’s not making it back to PS.
Arizona would be crazy not to claim him,
If he does BB rolled the dice and won.
Why not release a jag ol nobody is claiming them.
I am not sure we would have traded for either Love or Wheatley if they thought they would clear waivers. The other options were mid round picks. Surely someone would take a flyer on them. Backup offensive lineman that have potential are in high demand around the league.

Our depth concerns are not an isolated issue. However, our injuries to our starters exasperated the issue for us.

This team has more bad luck with injuries. Here they are, the last day of practice and lose a starting corner for 4 games.

You make it appear as if he injured himself on the last day of practice... Reports started surfacing earlier than that, closer to when his courthouse appearance concluded...

Unreal. It should be shown to the entire nation. I mean it's not like the greatest player in league history is retiring or anything.

So let me get this straight…
- Jack Jones is going on IR
- Rhamondre is sick
- Parker is hurt
- 3 out of 5 of the OL are just coming back from injury/illness that held them out almost all summer

That’s not great.

Barring some sort of transformative something-or-other, I think greatness is pretty much off the table this year, unless one is willing to cheapen the notion of "greatness" beyond recognition.

Or did they know that Zappe was much better positioned to be the backup FOR NOW and Corral needed some time.

Nobody claimed Coral the first time either, except us.

My theory is that Bill preferred Coral to Zappy during last year's draft process and would've taken him at 137, if not 127 or even 121, had he still been available; so when he saw Coral's name appear on the waiver wire, Bill decided to place a claim for him in case another team did the same...
Bill already knew that Coral wouldn't be ready any time soon and that the team would be better-served if he were on the PS instead of the 53; so when he discovered that no other team placed a claim, Bill decided to sign Zappy to the 53 and send Coral through waivers again, rolling the same nobody-claimed-him-last-time dice...
Unless the weekend lengthens the waiver process, we should have our answer by kickoff tomorrow.

Shawn Hochuli’s crew tomorrow. Pats are 5-1 with him I think… the one loss was the first Bills game last season.

Well it won't take long to know how much intestinal fortitude this team has.

Let me glass half full this for you:
Jack Jones will play the equivalent of a college season so he won't hit the rookie wall.
Rhamondre will most likely lose 5 pounds before the game so he should be lighter on his feet.
Parker being out will lead to more Boutte to be had.
3 out of 5 of the OL are extremely fresh from skipping practices.

I hope nobody minds a mild random rant. I saw something yesterday that pissed me off. That idiot John Tomase had written an article about the Patriots. I didn't read it and I certainly wasn't going to link it. IMHO, he lost the privilege of writing about the Pats when he published that false story about them taping a Rams walkthrough and releasing it the day before the big game.

John Tomase is a disgrace and shouldn't be allowed to report on Boston sports yet the Boston Herald uses him for their Red Sox coverage. I refuse to read the Herald or anything by Tomase. Shame on the Herald for keeping him on!

Rant over. Thank you, carry on.

Ty Montgomery has 9 lives. Bill can’t find anyone to send this guy off to pasture.

Honestly, Montgomery has looked solid in both this year and last year’s TCs but got hurt quickly both times. If he’s healthy now and available to play, he might be helpful to rotate in on offense (for however long he lasts this time)

I do think a few weeks of IR might help Jack get his mind right tbh. He seemed distracted during the preseason. With his legal issues hopefully behind him he may be able to take a few weeks to mostly just get healthy not just physically but also mentally.

No idea if Stevenson is seriously ill. He seemed fine in his presser which I believe was Thursday. I’d guess he’s probably fine by tomorrow afternoon.

Parker - idk. We keep getting told he seems “fine” by the reporters at practice but he has a knack for finding ways to get banged up. At least they have good depth at the position.

The OL are also question marks - was Strange really that hurt or was he just held out to be extra safe? Could Onwenu have come back earlier, or were they being cautious there as well? And with Anderson, we have no info about his illness - supposedly he’s stayed in shape the whole time. So reading all of these 3 optimistically, they may all be perfectly fine, though rust should still be a factor.
