Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

I saw this early today by that scumbag. Didn’t think anyone on this board would actually promote this by posting the article.

I thought the same thing but then I glanced at the number of posts and thought, here we go.

Ironically, I was just responding to another poster about starting up a thread to corral the Bill negativity. This may accomplish that.

Off I go.

Red Sox are as relevant in Boston as a WNBA team, so the Globe sends its resident slapdick to stir up some Patriots ****.

I've seen this story before. **** Volin, and **** the Boston Globe.

And **** the Red Sox.
I've noticed that there's a lot of WNBA games being televised lately but there's still few fans in the seats.

The Globe is despicable.

And **** the Red Sox.

Firing Bill and hiring BOB or Mayo is a good way to become the new Jaguars.

BOB has proven to be too emotional and incapable of being a top NFL head coach and Mayo would just be a younger version of Bill only not as good or experienced where you're neglecting the offense in an offensive driven league.

If you're firing Bill everyone on the staff should be nuked with him, i don't see the point in firing Bill and then handing it over to a bunch of Bill guys.
Do we really know which guys are truly Bill's guys? I'm not sure.

I think everyone (but me ) overstates the value of coaching. It's always been about the talent on the field and not the talent on the sidelines. And I don't see that changing.

For all we know BOB or Mayo could be successful as Bill's replacement.

I seriously doubt Bill Belichick is worried about losing his job at all. Unlike Parcells he isn’t going year to year, and I’m sure he and Kraft already have a succession plan in place, with Mayo slated to replace him.

That said, Volin is a Dolphins fan who has been talking **** about Belichick and the Patriots for years. This makes some here very happy, as they do the exact same thing, and are hoping they lose.
Just because Pats fans are critical of the HC you think they're hoping for the Pats to lose? That's nonsense.

Just for reference, the Steelers had to rebuild after Ben retired.

They have dealt with the same growing pains the Patriots and every rebuilding team in history have.

It takes 2-3 seasons to turn a team around. Does Tomlin suck now also?

Just dumb...
Tomlin doesn't suck but he lost a difference maker on defense and has no QB. And no HC is successful without top players, even Bill.

People who call BB the GOAT and most important person in the greatest dynasty of all time, is now being compared to Mike Tomlin...Talk about a standards drop

I wouldn't put it past Bill to retire if the team is forced to be on Hard Knocks next season.

Obviously, there's 2 sides to every story and you left out the one that didn't fit your narrative.

The Pats defensive ranking average since Brady left has remain at the same level. So where are all the championships ?

I'm sure you will go back to your argument that this is a team game. Well, go do the math over the Ravens past 5 seasons. You'll see that Jackson actually had a greater help than Brady from his defense. 4 of 5 years they were into the top 3. So were are all the championships?

Winning a championship is hard. It takes a special player to bring a team 10 times to the championship game. Of course it's a team game, nobody would win with high school talent, but a lot of teams and a lot of coaches had great talent over the years, yet there's only 1 individual that made it regulary to the championship game. If you can't see the impact Brady had on the team, then I'm sorry for you, you missed the show off a lifetime.
I'm not the one suggesting that one magical player makes all things possible.

Nor have I ever suggested a great defense is all you need... so this is misdirected. I preach team regularly, that's offense, defense, ST's and coaching.

The 2020 defense was as bad as the rest of the team was, the 2021 defense was improved and started strong before folding in the final month. The 2022 D is back to where the defense used to be by prime dynasty standards... so no, the defense hasn't remained the same level since Brady left.

I agree, it wasn't just Ben. Their offensive line aged or got priced out of town, they lost a lot but they're rebuilding now. This thread is a testament to how clueless some fans can be regarding roster building, it usually isn't an overnight process.

"Well, he's definitely a strong candidate to be the heir apparent," Kraft said of the inside linebackers coach (via NFL.com), "but we have some other good people in our system.”

Split the difference. There are very few things that would get me to stop following the Patriots, but if Kraft passes on Mayo to give O’Brien the HC job that would probably be one of them. While I hope he’s successful as their OC I can’t stand the guy, and I think he would ruin the team, just as he did in Houston, if he became the HC.
I think the major problem in Houston was the front office not the coaching. They didn't build their teams from the inside out nor did they prioritize offensive line and made Deshaun Watson run for his life. Once Obie took over the GM job they made the playoffs but it was too late and they had to pay too much (Tunsil) to build a capable offensive line.

I like Mayo fine, but want someone with NFL head coaching experience. As long as Groh is running the front office I think they could be fine with either guy.

There are a number of posters here who are definitely hoping that the Patriots fail this season. It’s a small number but they definitely exist. Don’t like it? Too bad.

O’Brien led the purge of the front office in Houston. I’m not going to root for him to fail as the OC, but I absolutely don’t want him taking over as the HC in New England.

The team the front office gave him was flawed, he was right to lead a purge of the front office after four years.

They missed the playoffs in 2002 with Brady starting every game. You're silly.
This is the kind of thing that doesn't look good when responding to Brady's record when he took over Bill & Drew's 5-13 Pats. His initial record when he took over was 11-3 with a 3-0 playoff and SB title. In 2002 he led the Pats to the best record in the AFCE but lost on a tiebreaker.

If it happens I'd like to see Mayo get a shot.

Tom was 3-2 after a little over a month of playing, he had 7 TD's, 4 interceptions and five fumbles at 6 yards per pass attempt.

What happened in 2001 is Tom got better, the team got better, HOF'er Richard Seymour went from a rookie on the bench to a starter.

Tom threw one TD in the entire postseason... we don't have to rewrite history, it's impressive enough without embellishment.

They came out of the tunnel as a team and it took a team effort.

Put yourself in Krafts shoes.

Kraft put his trust in bill. Leading to Bradys exit. Since then he got to watch Brady win a Superbowl while patriots became a middling team.

Then he puts his trust in Bill again with the Patricia/judge fiasco and the Patriots look even worse.

It is quite funny hearing fans who defend bills mantra of "it's not what you did for me in the past it's what you can do for me now" to justify releasing top players.

Yet it's all about "bills history with the organization" when it comes to him.

I think patriots need to see stark improvement for Kraft to be happy. Personally I think they will.
IBWT didn't really work out for Bob and I don't think he's used to things not working out.

My version of this story is Bill intended to trade TB to San Fran for a load of #1's, sign Jimmy G. RK went beserk, BB kept TB and traded Jimmy. That's always been my version and nothing has changed my mind. Not saying Bill's intention was good or bad but it's in line with his planning and that my friends is when things started going downhill.

Your lack of comprehension is your issue.
Nope thats definitely not it, if you can find me a post saying Belichick wasnt great...I will say you got me, otherwise...Maybe you might have a comprehension issue?
