Update: Curran says Belichick has been on the hot seat since 2019

I don’t buy into anything Volin writes, but I do believe Belichick is more on the hot seat than people think. Kraft doesn’t have many years left and I don’t think he wants to spend his final days watching his team being a consistent middle of the pack also ran. He isn’t paying Belichick to be the highest paid coach in the league to deliver 9-8 or 8-9 seasons.

The only way BB moves on will be to the front office as some sort of football consultant or complete retirement.
BB gets minimized on sportstalk radio and on message boards, but the overall consensus is he is an excellent coach who has stood the test of time, when his time comes he will be a first ballot HOF'er...
"Trollin Volin" needs some attention, and any attention will do..

Firing Bill and hiring BOB or Mayo is a good way to become the new Jaguars.

BOB has proven to be too emotional and incapable of being a top NFL head coach and Mayo would just be a younger version of Bill only not as good or experienced where you're neglecting the offense in an offensive driven league.

If you're firing Bill everyone on the staff should be nuked with him, i don't see the point in firing Bill and then handing it over to a bunch of Bill guys.

I don’t know if you are giving Mayo enough credit. He isn’t a typical Belichick disciple. He isn’t a guy with no NFL playing experience who grew up in the Patriots’ coaching system from a lowly grunt getting coffee for the coaches. I think the fact he was a player would make him a very different coach than some of the guys who failed as head coaches in Belichick coaching tree.

I am kinda leaning to getting someone who is more in line with what today’s NFL is about after Belichick, but I think Mayo has the potential to be a very good head coach.

After taking less money for the team to afford players and getting K Harry as a reward.
And then going to the Dolphins while under contract with the Pats, and refusing to attend OTA's to try to help the new receivers get acclimated to the system and his preferences as a quarterback. Sounds like a real team leader.

RKK wasn't decisive with Brady. He tried to play it down the middle and it blew up in his face.

I think it's a legit question if Kraft still has the balls to fire BB.
Sure he was. He let Bill handle it.

Bill is gone once it becomes obvious.

If he's not then he should be. Hello RKK.
It'll all come down to Mac Jones. If he improves off his best moments from his rookie season, and settles into the top 10-12 of QBs, then the team will be good enough otherwise to save BB's job. If Mac looks like he did last season, or only marginally better, then BB should be on thin ice because with the way their schedule is looking now, subpar QB play will mean 8 wins or less.
Really? What franchise is bringing in Belichick for an all time wins ceremony?

Look, half the league is locked into their head coaches for the foreseeable future. Half the head coaches are probably preferable to Belichick. We're not talking about 2004 IBWT anymore (when that actually meant something). We're not even talking 2018 Bill. If he in fact is looking for a job next year then we're talking 72-year-old subpar head coach.

This is not Belichick's seat. He'll leave on his own terms.

This is BB we are talking about. Are you even seriously asking these questions?

Things were looking up when convict AB got signed.

2 busts in Harry and Dorsett
1 WR with one foot in rehab Gordon
Sanu
39 year old Ben Watson replaced Gronk
Jules was the only guy you could count on

No chance Bill is getting fired. He'll be encouraged to step down when it's time ala Coughlin with the GIants. Coughlin lost the locker room IIRC and I don't think Bill has yet although he tried really hard last year. Case in point - my avatar.

In the blue corner, we have the Bill haters who 100% believe Trollin' Volin when he throws shade at Belichick

In the red corner, we have the Bill lovers, who think Trollin' Volin is a turd stirrer only there to garner hate clicks.

I'm in the purple corner, along with other sensible folks who understand how things work.

Of course when things end between Belichick and Kraft, Belichick will likely be given the opportunity to walk away rather than be fired. The only way he will be fired is if Kraft asks him to step down and he refuses or there is a complete and utter meltdown of the team. I cannot see the latter. I can see a possibility of the former. But I don't think it is likely that Belichick would ever force Kraft to fire him if Kraft wishes to part way. He doesn't want the stigma of getting fired.

Ultimately what happened was best for the franchise.
RKK wasn't decisive on the issue, which was my initial comment. We don't have to rehash everything but you can't possible justify that what happened was "best for the franchise." That's a crock of ****.

Firing the best coach ever would not be.
We'll see how you feel about it if the team wins 7 games. Plus you also thought Patricia was a great idea, so there's that.

I don’t buy into anything Volin writes, but I do believe Belichick is more on the hot seat than people think.
Contradiction?

Sure he was. He let Bill handle it.
So deferring to Bill is taking a decisive stance on the situation? I think not my friend. Not a good look begging Tom to retire after he let him walk either. What he feared, happened, which confirmed his flimsy grasp on the situation.

IBWT is only alive and well in some PatsFans circles. A good chuck of PatsFans had that ship sail a long time ago. And nationally Belichick isn't considered to be an untouchable head coach anymore. His team is getting picked to finish 4th IN THE DIVISION by many. No one is intimidated by Belichick right now.

This is the question I asked... what franchise is bringing in Belichick for an all time wins ceremony? Do you want to answer it? Because the list of franchises wanting a currently mediocre 72-year-old head coach inching his way toward a wins record has got to be very short. As a fan and season ticket holder of the New England Patriots, I'm not interested in seeing that. Don't really care about the HC wins record. Bill's probably going to pass the losses record first... are we raising a banner for that?

I want the team to be on the right track again, and by the end of this season (or sooner), we'll have an answer. If they are, which by my standards is 10 or more wins and at least a competitive showing in the WC, then ride into the sunset with Bill. However, 9 wins or less and no playoffs or another playoff drubbing, then RKK needs to move on from Bill. Which if Bill doesn't want to quit coaching and move into an executive position then that means cutting ties completely with Bill and likely most of the coaching staff. Maybe O'Brien and Mayo are kept around, or not, but no big losses otherwise.

BB friends are talking to Volin? Not a chance. Desperately grabbing at straws. But he timed the fairytale properly during the season downtime.
