How do guns in a locked case accidentally discharge?

That's a great question. It seems you might have the answer, please share. Or instead perhaps you could have posted something like this: "You may not have known Jones' guns were in locked cases, hence precluding the possibility of accidental discharge even with one loaded." And I would've said, "Thanks for the info."

Not true. Many of the trolls here are actively hoping he'll be cut.

They don't count, I was referring to fans of the Patriots hoping for the best.

This is starting to remind me of the AB story in that we didn't hear much about his transgressions that occurred while he was in Pissburgh until he landed here and gave the team a serious WR threat. Then, all of a sudden, AB was the main topic everywhere.

The media seems to have it out for the Pats with this story, especially when compared to other incidents with players from other teams.
Everyone knew AB was crazy before he got here. He just got crazier as he went along.

I don't think Mr. Jones was set up, I think he is an idiot who needs to grow up. Hopefully this will be that point in his life when he realizes he has to get his **** together or he is really going to blow it all.

You were accidentally shooting from the hip?

Yes, but if he pleads to different, lesser charges and the current charges are dropped as part of a plea deal - which happens a lot - the lesser charges might not require incarceration. That’s why we don’t know yet.
A lesser charge not having the guns at the airport.

I like it.

Perhaps this is a demonstration that gun laws do work. Don't you believe that this arrest will be a deterrent to others?

Would it really be more effective to assess the federal fine as the only deterrent?
If the gun laws worked then Jones would not be in trouble.

I still don't see what the big deal is here. If Alec Baldwin can get away with killing someone because he never checked his weapon but still pointed it at someone and pulled the trigger, then why do we expect Jones to go down for having them in his luggage?

its called selective outrage, a pandemic in our country

As for AB, I think he went a little further into the darkness when Vontaze Berfict scrambled his brains with one of his dirtier hits. But the stories about him didn't really get a lot of play until he came to the Pats.

Unfortunately, young athletes are given a free pass if they're talented enough and by the time they get to the NYFL they think they can get away with almost anything.

Really.

Some laws take intent into account. It's what separates first degree murder from negligent homicide, for instance. Mishandling of classified documents an intentness crime as well. A sailor was sent to prison because he took a selfie and a screen behind him had classified material displayed on it making the selfie classified. He didn't intend to create and then distribute it when he sent it to his family but he was still punished for it.

Personally i'm kinda down the middle on this one.

I think he is a perfect CB2 here and is really good. He and Gonzo have the potential to be the best CB pairing for years to come. I want the NEP to exhaust all possible options to keep him so he plays in 2023. Letting it play out in the courts seems like the right approach.

On the other hand, bringing 2 unlawfully obtained, loaded guns to the airport is incredibly stupid. This means because of stupidity, hubris, etc he has a penchant to get in trouble again which hurts the NEP brand and the team which depends on him to help them win. Cut your losses....

Only hope is they prove in a court of law he was set up or come up with some PR masterstroke so this goes away with a minimal suspension.

Hell Frank Clark had a submachine gun in his car and was only suspended for 2 games....

There is a reason they ask or at least they are supposed to ask….

“Is this your luggage? Did anyone but you pack it? Was this bag ever out of your possession?”

I’m sure they didn’t, so the “I didn’t know it was in there” defense will be assessable to him.
They ask you that at the kiosk when you check in.

He obviously lost track of where his loaded guns were, cause there's no way he intentionally ran them thru the carry-on conveyor belt. He either thought they were back at his apartment, or he must have also checked a bag and thought he put them in there. Unbelievably careless, but that's what happened.

The rest is all about the defense attorney trying to mitigate the damage. It's not right to invoke racism here, that's 1000% not related to the crime.

I don't want to see the Patriots lose a very valuable asset with no return, and no team will trade for him with everything up in the air. So I hope we just hang tight, don't listen to the Volins or others with their panties in a bunch, hope he somehow gets off light, then either ride with him or trade him.

Jack Jones' past has been brought up before.

I live in a Red state and I believe that Jones should serve time.

It just goes to prove that gun laws dont work. This doofus could care less about them.
All it proves to me is he's a doofus and doesn't know what's in his bag. Ignorant of laws. I have hunted in other states and have flown with checked gun cases. To think that you'll be able to get thru TSA with gun/guns/ammo in carry on is asinine. It's taken very seriously and I am blown away that anyone would be dumb enough to think that you could get thru TSA. We have always given ourselves extra time to get thru check-in. In my mind, the guy didn't have any clue what was in his bag, because anyone with half a brain would know that it's not going to "fly".

I'll add that I won't fly out of Boston with checked gun cases for the very reasons that are being discussed in this thread.

Ben Volin and the trolls must be seething that it looks like the Pats won't be cutting him. Now they gotta hope nyfl and ****dell steps in even though no player has ever been suspended or put on the exempt list for gun charges that haven't been ajducated.

They dreading the Gonzo-Jones Trio secondary

Agree there is no way i'd travel via air with my firearm. I'd fear it being stolen (buddy of mine had his golf clubs stolen last week in Logan) or some hotshot trying to be a hero and putting the screws to me asking all kinds of questions..... No thanks.

Plus of all states....."Massa-shoot-less" to have an illegal firearm in your possession....Jesus. Jones is a clueless idiot (if in fact he isn't being set up)

When you go hunting in other States/Countries you fly with your guns. I have flown out of Maine and NH, which were easy, you just have to follow the rules. I wouldn't try out of Logan.
