‼ Peacock / NBC to stream an Exclusive Wild Card Game ⁉

I cut the cord years ago. YouTube TV + a few streaming services. I'm definitely paying a little more than I used to for cable but the libraries available to me and ease-of-use is a lot better than if I just had cable.
Doubt it’s as much as DirecTV though. Not to mention you can always cancel some of those streaming apps at times as needed. No gross contracts

I don't know about you, but my cable bill and the sports package aren't exactly free... Now I have to pay a premium to watch the playoffs? I look at this as something they are trying to make me pay twice for

If we make the playoffs this year, it's even money that our game will not be shown on television... No thanks

I knew you would disagree :)

I understand your point, but my complaint isn't the few dollars they charge. It's that they don't invest some of this revenue in better camera angles, referees etc.

The NFL started monkeying around with preseason games a few years ago... It can be a clusterhump at times to catch those games... I don't have faith in the NFL to make this an easy transition... putzing around with crappy Thursday night games is one thing, but the playoffs? That ain't cool...

so...even if someone heard my pleas years ago and eradicated the Goon, we'd still be held hostage to the greedy pigs that control OUR national game...face it, we’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, lead astray, run amok and flat out deceived! JUst wait until they PPV the Super Bowl and charge for access to Mahomes scumbag brother's latest scam...

Yep. Not even as much as I thought it was when I sat down and looked it over. We have YTV ($65), Netflix ($17, I think now), Disney+ ($6 because we prepay annually), Hulu ($8 version), Paramount+ (free with Walmart+), HBO Max (free with AT&T), Prime Video (built into Amazon Prime, so effectively “free”), and Peacock (free with Xfinity). Half of them are free to me due to other subscriptions/memberships and the others add up to about $96. Not really bad at all and we have a ton of stuff available.

I just want ala carte TV. All I need is 6 or 7 channels.

ESPN, ESPN2, FOX Sports, USA, Paramount+, Peacock+

We're like you but we have some workarounds.

Netflix (free thru TMobile), Spotify ($4 student rate but it gives us free Hulu and Showtime), Amazon Prime, Paramount+ ($4 student rate), and we share Disney and HBOMax for free. All these for $8 a month.

After March Madness, I cancel my 10 channel ala carte with cable. It costs $25 a month but then another $15 in network licensing fees plus taxes. I pick it up again before the NFL regular season.

One 8 episode show every year does nothing for me...
Fortunately, there are far more good shows than that. And since there is now essentially nothing but disgusting reality tv on the networks, it makes my choice quite simple.

It's both free and pay. It isn't clear from the story whether it will require the paid tier.
Do you think they spent $110 million to give the game away for free?

Notre Dame football had 1 Peacock exclusive last season, and it was not available on the free plan, so I have to think the exclusive NFL playoff game won’t be on the free plan either.

Far more? Then we disagree on what a good scripted series actually means. If you get one per streamer you're lucky.

I have no desire to add peacock to my services. I hope if it is the patriots, they will play it locally.

I pay for
Prime
Netflix
Disney+
HBO

That's more than I'd like to pay for.

Cut the cord in 2010 and have been very happy about it.

Ive been saying for a long time that eventually premiere NFL games will be pay per view.

Just watch, more 2023 games will be pimped out to whatever media provider will pay the highest. Before long you'll need 5 different services to see all the games. The NFL Ticket and Amazon Prime aint going to be enough.

Greed has no limit so eventually, if this scam works, all the NFL games will be pay-per-view. So not only are most NFL games rigged against the spread by gamblers, but now you have to pay to see the rigged games? No thanks; I will go fishing instead.

They have a commodity. Of course they are going to maximize the price they get for it. We have been paying indirectly for it forever through the higher prices we pay to cover the advertising cost. It seems that pay per view or pay by subscription is now more lucrative that advertising dollars.
