What would you rather have - a pro-bowl receiver that makes 2nd team all-pro like AJ Brown, or a 1st all-pro gunner?Devil is in the details. So many are special teamers or did not make it wit Pats. However, so so many of these were drafted a long ass time ago and a lot of them were relatively higher picks which is expected.
Interesting Tweet, it appears they're a little better than people give them credit for relative to other teams:
He gets alot of flack from the long line of WR bust.. I feel that overshadows how good of a Drafter he's been.. however 17 players.. since 2k.. pretty good..
but ... but ... terrible gm ... blah blah blah
he gets a lot of flack because people are lazy and shoot their mouths off without knowing wtf they are talking about. He gets alot of flack from the long line of WR bust.. I feel that overshadows how good of a Drafter he's been.. however 17 players.. since 2k.. pretty good..
Yeah that's how it goes when you win.. what else can haters do but hate. We've won for 2 decades.. will never ever be replicated in any sport ever again! He was behind all that.. he rightly deserves credit!he gets a lot of flack because people are lazy and shoot their mouths off without knowing wtf they are talking about.

True - but I guess the point is there aren't other teams out there necessarily crushing it either relative to the Patriots. We hear every year about how this or that team had an amazing draft, but none of us follow all the players through their respective careers across the league to see how it all ultimately turns out. Needless to say, it looks like other teams are also not awesome at what's already a not-so-exact science. That was Then; this is Now.
Considering Pats lost 35-23 to the Bills last season giving up 2KR TDs, yeah, I'd say special teams is pretty important.Yeah this matters. What would you rather have - a pro-bowl receiver that makes 2nd team all-pro like AJ Brown, or a 1st all-pro gunner?
This distinction is important. Belichick is not a bad GM of course but let's not swing and act like he's incredible

BB's current fastball is Wakefield-esqueThat was Then; this is Now.
And did this drafting largely at the bottom of each round. Not accurate. It's much more.

Nobody has the draft down to a science, even the Pats. What the Pats usually have that I like a lot is more picks. More picks gives the team more chances in what we all can see is a hit or miss situation.I think this more or less tells us that the rest of the teams around the league don't exactly have it down to a perfect science, either.
If a player is highly ranked what good does it do to see him flourish on another team instead of the Pats, especially if they got nothing in return?Does it matter?
Thuney was here for several years and won 2 Super Bowls while playing at the same level that he achieved All-Pro status for another team. He developed here. His drafting and development should certainly count toward the Patriot total.

Joe Thuney gave this team 4 great years at the same caliber of play he's giving the Chiefs. He developed here, played well here, went to 3 Super Bowls. If a player is highly ranked what good does it do to see him flourish on another team instead of the Pats, especially if they got nothing in return?
And if the Pats are so great at developing players why do they draft and pick up so many players who never play a down in the NYFL? And why have they had so few QBs drafted that became successful? Or WRs? Let me tell you why. It's about talent, not coaching. Always has been and always will be.
I think the infatuation with coaching goes back to something that was said years ago by Bum Phillips. He can take his'n and beat your'n, then he can take your'n and beat his'n. That sounds great but the facts don't back it up. Coaches win with better players, not schemes that have been around for over a century.
Factual!! , BB said himself players win the games coaches loose them..If a player is highly ranked what good does it do to see him flourish on another team instead of the Pats, especially if they got nothing in return?
