Brady has no ties to the Bucs right now. He did file his retirement paperwork but that doesn't matter one bit. He can ask for reinstatement and become a FA at any time.

Thanks for clarifying, your other post actually made it clearer as far as what I was thinking of - he did file his paperwork but didn't sign a "kick the can down the road a year" deal to help out Tampa (like McCourty did with NE) so he can un-retire anytime.

I'm not talking smack. I just believe a player who goes to another team but identifies mainly with his former team should sign a 1 day contract to retire with said former team. Peyton did the same thing to - he refused to sign a one day contract with Indy since he was bitter about getting pushed out by Irsay. Do it for the fans.

Brady doesn't want to exclude reinstatement and free agency, which is what a one day contract with the Patriots would amount to. What don't you understand?

Technically he's not available to sign any NFL contract because he's formally retired and reinstatement would be required first. Brady is not going to go through the charade of reinstatement now just so he can sign some meaningless one day contract (before then having to retire again). You can forget the one day contract with the Patriots, it's not happening.
