NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Official 2023 Free Agency Thread

Make it $12m then…halfway between. Or no?
For Beckham? 12 million?
Coming off another devastating injury.
He has played 20 of the last 50 reg season games and produced 67/856 in those game. He missed more games Ethan he has played since turning 28 and now is 31 and when he has played he hasn’t been any good
He had a good game in NFCCG 2 years ago,(his only 100 yard game since Oct 2019) other than that he has been mediocre when healthy and made of glass.
I think 4 million is too much

Honestly, have been thinking about it and it would make a lot of sense for them to target a TE on day 2 in the draft since this class is has a a lot of good TEs, gives them some flexibility and a layer of injury insurance if they want to feature 2-TE sets. If that is the case, having an "elite #1 WR" may not be all that important. Parker or Bourne + Juju, with Thornton rotating as a speed option, might be fine with Henry and Gesicki or a rookie TE on the field as well. That said, a Jeudy or a Hopkins certainly does not hurt but I wouldn't want to break the bank for either guy, since a 2nd rounder could get the team the TE I'm talking about here. I'd be more inclined to try a player trade with a later pick if possible. But the Pats DO have a lot of picks, so they have flexibility.

Even with the offseason additions I still expect them to add pass catchers throughout the draft. Gesicki, Henry, Parker and Bourne only have one year left on their deals.

The team doesn’t really need answers at those positions for this year imo. It needs long term answers. It’s a great draft to add at least one TE, I know the wr draft class isn’t great but I think it’s decent for slot receivers specifically.

I don't know enough about the technical side of running an offense to know whether JuJu and Jeudy are good fits to be on the field at the same time. But if they are, I would trade a 2nd for him.

We gave up a 2nd for Wes Welker, who obviously turned out to be an all time Pats great, but at the time was a 50-60 catch guy middling around a team with questionable QB play (sound familiar?). Jeudy is also only 26 I believe, so as long as they were able to extend him, it gives you a guy for the next 4-5 years that can grow with Mac (assuming he takes the necessary steps forward himself).

Tucker Kraft is my guy. Scouting reports say soft hands and a willing blocker. Bring him in as your blocking TE this year then pair him with Gesicki or Henry (whichever one wants to come back) next year.

We would probably have to move up to 60-65ish to get him though. Just depends when the run on TEs starts.

Upon further review...I agree $12m is too high.

“it’s not for without trying” Lol. Never change, Josi. Just keep accruing those digits through whatever means necessary. You’ll be fine.

This is the one whom Bill should've drafted in 2019 ahead of SloJuan, without having to throw away ANOTHER PICK just for the privilege.

You OWE US this dude, Billy.
Stop it with your nonsense. He was a non-factor for three years with New Orleans and they basically gave him away before final cut downs last year. Very few people, if anyone, predicted that he would have such an impact in 2022. The fact that he is still unsigned means likely mean that many teams are still unsure of who the real Gardner-Johnson is.

You would’ve been bashing him for three years and surely would’ve come up with one of your dumb nicknames for him. Now that he had his breakout year with Philly, you’re pretending like you were always has biggest fan and were pounding the table for him in 2019. Show me some receipts from April 2019 and I’ll give your post a belated thumbs-up.
