Player Signing Patriots Add RB James Robinson

Rookie RB Breece Hall was tearing through defenses before he got injured. Their offense went in the toilet once he was out. They desperately needed an RB to step up, especially considering their grotesque QB play, and Robison gave them 2.9 Y/A. Hall was averaging 5.8 Y/A.

Sure, but he had 4.2 ypc with Jacksonville, so clearly the Jets weren't doing something right. Breece Hall is a better player, but Robinson isn't being brought in to be him (and isn't being paid like a top back either).

Breeze hall more like it.. was knocking defenses on thier asses... the guys a bus and we better be prepared.. Jete has him and 2 burners on the outside lazard and Wilson...

And adding this already-not-the-same-player-he-was-before-his-Achilles'-tear dude doesn't help that.
..as a RB2 hes fine. He can catch the ball.

Maybe... But that still doesn't answer his comment.
Sure it was.

1) We don't have a pass catching RB to can spell Rham. That hurt the offense.
2) We don't have a reliable RB2 since Harris is made of glass. That hurt the offense.

Agreed... But adding Robinson doesn't really help there.

(yes, I'm mourning the loss of 2 of my favorite guys with hyperbole)
BUT - What will you give me when Robinson doesn't produce more than what Harris did last year (even while missing 6 games).
Since we have Rham as RB1 (who also had 69 rec), and Strong looks to challenge for 3rd-down back, we don't need a major player.
Harris would have been cheaper than Robinson, and was an established leader in the locker room.
This just didn't make a ton of sense.
It’s doubtful Harris would have been cheaper.
I have not heard anything about him being a leader. Every veteran isn’t a leader and few are dynamic leaders that are impactful. I’m sure the players won’t hate Robinson.

@JackBauer what is the ugh for? We have Stevenson, K. Harris, Strong, Taylor and Montgomery.

Not exactly a spot needing an obvious addition. Unless they are done with Ty and Don't believe Harris can step in for the old Harris. But he looked good in his limited snaps last season.
Our RB2 is on average going to get 100-150 Carrie’s.
We had no one I would want to rely on for that.
K Harris is unproven and barely made the team last year.

2 of the 4 games JR was active in was vs the Pats, so they must've really liked what they had seen.

Isiah Pacheco was a 2022 7th round pick.
That was my RB pick last year - I was shocked Pats didn't pick him up - Rutgers and all. I do like Strong, though. As I said just needs more opportunities. He and JR are both from FCS schools, and JR got the opportunity to shine right off the bat. BB usually don't play dat.

I wonder if the signing of Robinson means tat the Pats don't figure to be players at RB in the draft?

JR?

He had an impressive rookie 2020 season. Can catch the ball well (82% catch rate) with 344 yards.

The Patriots are 'hoping' this guy can replicate his rookie season. 1000 yards rushing and 300 yards receiving is pretty decent.

They have been needing a James White type ever since... well James White retired.

Got to assume Harris is gone. Anyone else concerned that we are losing too many solid locker room guys?
With Meyers’ comments to the media since his signing with LVR, and Harris retweeting things that paint the Pats in a negative light, I’m not particularly convinced these are team-first, locker-room guys. Meyers was also the one making comments to the media following the Zappe-Jones affair against Chicago, seeming to question the way the coaches handled things; I doubt BB forgot about that.

Beyond those two, who else has been lost that concerns you (and/or others) from a cultural perspective? Jonathan Jones is back. Peppers is back (he struck me as having some real charisma and natural, organic leadership by example ability). Some of the guys they’re acquiring strike me as high character - Robinson, Reiff especially.

I will say, putting aside all of that, I find Damien Harris to be a tremendously likable person and I find him to be a damn impressive running back when healthy. Very fun to watch.
