I do think the Jets have some leverage- although they have less because if they skip on Rodgers, they are looking at someone like Mariota, Ryan, Wentz or Bridgewater to compete with Wilson. At the same time, the Packers have a 40 year old guy, coming off his worst season, that they don’t want, who doesn’t want to be there, with a massive contract. So, while they have some leverage, I see it as a fairly short lever. If I was the Packers I wouldn’t budge an inch. Options:
a) Jets pay what they want and nothing less
2) He can hold a clipboard for the year and try again next year
d) He can retire
Rodgers and the Jets have no leverage whatsoever. He can do his best to paint the packers in a bad light and put the blame on them, but any non Jet fan doesn’t care/falls for his crap. The dead money makes this situation very easy for the Pack.
