Player Signing Patriots sign OT Calvin Anderson

I'm sure the contract's a small one; but in my mind he's our best LT as of right now; better than Brown.
Have you watched him play at all? Just wondering.

I do agree with you on Brown - swapping him and Wynn last year was about as dumb as anything I've seen.

He's a great value vet signing. The kid is really athletic, strong and somewhat experienced.

He can start, can play OT, can play guard.

This is fine for OL depth. I think Stueber and Anderson can be backups at LT. Let McDermott start the year at RT, and if Anderson beats him out, then cool. We still have Cajuste (for now) as a backup at RT.
Now, go get some skill position help!

isn't cajuste a free agent? or restricted?

McDermott start the year is a nightmare scenario for me

The Patriots also signed him as a UDFA coming out in 2019. maybe he's improved enough to stick to the roster this time around as a backup swing OT?

I don't think this is our future blindside protector though...

He scored 10.4 points higher than Wynn on the PFF grading scale, which means that he's worth at least 20 million per year.
Wynn scored a 54.6 which is pretty garbage though. So that makes Anderson slightly better than mediocre.

with the OL plan you have here . you dont need skill positions

First off, stop with PFF... it's nonsense.

The kid is 6'4," so while he doesn't scream offensive tackle, he does have an 81.5" wingspan which makes him hard to get around.

What also makes him interesting is he is uber athletic and strong. Coming out of Texas in 2019 his forty was the only measurable which could be considered average, everything else about him was great.

He had a 31" vertical leap, benched it 30 times, had a 115" broad jump... especially good were his 7.20 cone and 4.45 shuttle. The kid motors and can pull like the fastest guards in the league.

He's had plenty of time to develop in the NFL and gain a little weight. I'd project him to start at RT on day one barring injury. He's a great value vet signing.

Yes I did, on any Donkeys game that was nationally televised... Focused on him in particular, and I thought he held his own... Played relatively clean games too regarding penalties/negative plays...

Yep... I guess I understand their reasoning behind trying to prevent an unbalanced line, but they simply didn't have the personnel available to pull it off... 2018 was FOUR years ago for Brown; and Wynn tore his Achilles' during his rookie pre-season taking snaps at... RIGHT Tackle...

Let’s see what the value of the contract is first….

Stubby is in No way, shape or form a Left-side lineman.

And surely you're not still considering Trent Brown as our starting Left Tackle, are you? That experiment in the Way-Back Machine is Over
