Linebackers, 2023

Clemson has a junior coming out for the draft with the kind of elite RAS that Cole Strange had last year.

We need an infusion of athleticism in the linebacker corps.

Trenton Simpson will run a 4.3 forty at 6’3” 240?

He's going early, but we have too many other needs to be addressed first.

CB, OT, and WR are too expensive in FA. Let's sign Payne, Edmunds, and a free safety in FA, and draft CB, OT and WR with the 1st 3 picks. After that double dip at OT. If we dont sign Jon Jones or Myers might have to double dip at WR and CB too. The Pats seem to like Mitchell, Ray, and Roberts from last year so maybe one will shine in 2023. Maybe draft a fast LB but we keep saying that and it never happens so I would like to sign Edmunds.

I’m hoping we get this kid in our second fourth round pick, #116.

If he's a stud, why is it that you believe he'll last until the 4th round?

He's fast but he ain't that fast. If he runs sub 4.4 he'll go somewhere around where the Pats pick.

No mention of Drew Sanders in the LB thread?

I ain't taking him at #14, but if he lasts until #46 then I'll certainly have to consider him... Depends on what our situations at LT, WR & CB look like at that moment, both from #14 and from free agency...

I didn't see where anyone expects the Pats to take a LB at 14. My choice right now (with a small trade down to around 20) is the beast Devon Witherspoon, CB or Cam Smith, CB. I like them both.
I would certainly consider take him at 46, depending on who else is there though (like a Barmore-type drop for a WR or OT).

My man! I get excited seeing both but especially Smith. He's still a little underrated in terms of a "name" prospect (maybe I'm wrong) but I'm a fan. Either one works and really would help in run support. Both play big boy football and would fit right in here imo.

With the possible depth at our 3 main positions of need - LT, CB, WR - when we pick at #14, I might not at all be opposed to a small trade-down either... And Seattle has the picks to be a very good trade partner for us...

Haha, yeah, it's why I mentioned pick 20. They could get creative in that scenario. I could also see Seattle use a combination of that 20th pick and move up to any of the top 3 spots (Young, Anderson, Carter, all studs).

@BaconGrundleCandy - Did you not do a LB PTP thread???
What's your take on Ivan Pace, Jr as a potential replacement for Mack Wilson in say the 5th round?
