Pre-Free Agency 2023

Definitely sensible... I like all of us would have like that to had happen in 2022.. however I Know we're on to the new season and hopefully can have a better season and make a return to the playoffs.

Having some speed on the outside I believe it's what's important to be able to loosen up defenses and have those running lanes and room for those intermediate routes ..

What's forgotten is we had no one to command that type of coverage outside of Thornton however he was a rookie snd unproven.. So it'd be nice to land a guy like Lazard he can only help us!
I think they are some Rookie WR's in this upcoming Draft who will contribute from Day 1 Addison - Flowers - Dell and Downs just to name a few.

The bolded are those in whom I will have Very serious interest should we lose Meyers.

If the Pats get a receiver currently in free agency, I want Parris Campbell. I think his production has been hindered by the Colts using an endless stream of borderline starters and washed up fading veterans at QB. And he probably fits the Patriots' need for a slot or outside WR who can be quick over the middle. Plus, he was a gadget player for most of his college career which means the Pats can use him in multiple ways.

Trade for Higgins sign Campbell or Berrios cause I’m Greedy.

FA LT Taylor Lewan makes all the sense in the world for Cincy.

If that's the case then I'm all in.. we need WRs who are going to be able to play and contribute.. I'm not down on Thornton like I've seen some posters do.. the kid was out there takimg coverage with him. His speed is elite. He even started some games..

He had to play catch up he missed the 1st half of the season with the shoulder. I am expecting he and Mac to connect alot this season.

I did not watch enough browns football last year to comment on whether the Pats should be interested. he was a very good player for the Rams.

Totally. Why the hell didn’t Bill, Matty G and Elliot come here for draft advice last year?! If this site is known for one thing, it is obviously sensible posters and their thoroughly researched, unbiased and, above all else, sensible takes.

Daron Payne was tagged by the redskins

I believe the deterent for Higgins is the team knows they will have to pay him... that all to familiar saying with our great franchise... if we didn't want to give the GOAT the drew Brees contract I definitely don't see us paying a WR..

However this goes back to me saying the team whether they want to or not are going to pay for talent.. yes that's nice to draft and develop player's However if they turn out then ultimately you still have to pay them...

2023 is so important with Mac and getting the team back on track.. as he may be under his rookie deal but 14 months from now the team is going to have to make a decision to pick up his option. So as Parcells said you need the Jimmy's and Joe's to win... we have those now we need a game changer!

Agree

Not many other options right now... I don't want to sign Orlando Brown Jr for what it would likely cost; and the recently-released Taylor Lewan needs to show that he's healthy & clean before numbers are even discussed... The rest of the UFAs don't really excite me as starting LTs for the 2023 NEPs:

The only other non-draft possibility is trading for somebody on an expiring contract, same as how Trent Brown was acquired... Here's a list of the 2020 draftees who might fit the category:

Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions...

What’s wrong with paying a legit LT? It’s one of those positions I’d happily throw fat stacks of cash at for a legit player

We paid Matt Light and Nate Solder pretty well

Sebastian Vollmer was one of the Best LTs we've had during the Brady era... he was massive at 6"8

Better to pay in free market rather than trade premium assets and also pay for game changer when this year is to evaluate mac's talent .

I would say build a competitive team but don't go overboard . The problem I see is we severely do not know how to evaluate offensive playmakers both in Draft and ib FA . I would just bolster the defense and get some offensive talent with high potential .

Is Higgins a true wr 1 or was jamarr chase making him look better . So to expend 14th pick + 25 million a year for Higgins is super risky. Similar to jets leveon bell contract.

Bring that BC eagle back to New England where he belongs!

I think he played right tackle for the majority of his time here.

It's better to draft OT especially early in the draft because they hit at a much higher success rate than WR's, TE's or other positions. You have that player locked in for the next four years on a team friendly rookie contract.

If they go the free agent route to bolster their offensive tackle position, the Pats should sign value vets like Yosh Nijman from the Packers and/or Oli Udoh from the Vikings.

Both players are looking for their first big contract, neither has played that much to pump up their value but played very well in limited minutes, both are plus athletes, are young, and both of their teams have a lot of money invested in the lines already.

Otherwise the Pats should just draft one or even two.

Interesting... halfway decent cover safety by the numbers... Would have to watch him play a bit more... He snagged a fumble against us last year, but otherwise I dont remember him

I liked him a lot coming out of the draft, but one thing you forgot to mention is he had trouble staying healthy. He was perpetually injured with the Colts. If they can get him on a reasonable deal with injury contingencies, where he only gets paid if he plays, I'd love this signing.

everyone wants to play for the Dolphins. Pats are going to have to overpay to get top tier free agents.
Let's face it, BB and BoB are not exactly a huge draw for free agents from other teams. They are both hardasses, tough and super demanding.

I think our struggles with FA will have more to do with things like climate, state income tax and contender status more so than any perceived tough coaching from Bill and Bob

Pass on Parris Campbell... The more i look, the more he reminds me of another under performing clots receiver we took a flyer on, Phillip Dorsett... just blah all the way around...

Ha, maybe they’ll sign him after all. I know he spoke highly of O’Brien on an Alabama podcast a few weeks ago, and he’s close with Mac.
