NFL GAME DAY DISCUSSION Super Bowl Game Day Pregame/Game Thread (Eagles vs Chiefs)

I always say that it’s extremely difficult to compare players across eras. In hockey, Bobby Orr was getting his knees chopped out from under him and had to fight his own battles…still putting up absurd statistics for a DEFENSEMAN. Wayne Gretzky had bodyguards to give him more space, but his numbers and accomplishments are so mind-boggingly staggering that you can’t deny he’s the Great One, even though at least half his career was played in a high scoring era with several hall of fame teammates. Connor McDavid plays in the modern game where the difference between an elite player and 4th liner is very very small, but he’s still scoring 120+ pts a season and probably has more physical skill than any human being ever has had on a sheet of ice. BUT, Orr & Gretzky used technically inferior skates and sticks, and the knowledge for personal training and skill development is light years ahead of where it was 30 years ago. Montana had to worry about Lawrence Taylor ripping his body in half and DBs getting extremely physical with Jerry Rice. Brady played in a similar league in the first half of his career. Mahomes has played in a league where the defense is SEVERELY handicapped in what they’re actually allowed to do to stop an offense. Almost every rule in football is designed for elite QBs to put up insane yard and point totals every game. Call it the “Fantasy football effect.” I hate it to be honest

Yes, which is why it's difficult to compare Brady vs Montana. But no one here will listen.

Someone said Brady > Mahomes > Manning, @MAC10 saw that, got triggered and you can guess where it went from there.
No it started when he came riding in on his black horse after weeks of vacation to start **** in this thread the second the clock hit zero and KC won. He didn't come here to discuss. He came here to troll. 1st post from him was "lol". Shortly after that he was invoking ELi Manning beating Brady. He ruins patsfans. I know i can mute him but why is it on me or any of us to have to alter our behavior for that fck?

It wasnt difficult at all when Montana was at 4 rings and TB was at 0, 1, 2, 0r 3. Why is it so difficult now?

NFL was quick to get this under control. Wonder what it took for that admission.

They're just obfuscating the main point: they should not have thrown that flag at that time.

Yes, there was a tug, just like there's holding on every play.

They weren't calling **** all night long, then at a big spot, they start calling ticky-tacky ****.

Also, the ball was uncatchable anyway.

It doesn't matter what Bradberry says. There are literally 30 different camera angles of the play and in none of them is a penalty of any kind warranted. It was a biased ref exploiting what he thought was an opportunity to guarantee a Chiefs win. Unfortunately for him and his crew, that replay will be on a loop forever and it will always show the same thing... no penalty.
The NFL is scripted now just like the WWE. With the help of expedited reviews and crooked refs, they can now more than ever keep the game close to keep people hooked on the TV and help the chosen team to win. It's just unwatchable.

If the Patriots win the Superbowl next year, will that one also be rigged?

It would have been an exciting finish if the refs aka sport bettors didn't decide to call the winner of the game. That's what it was.

I remember the hail Mary to Gronk vs Philly SB. Philly was committing fouls all over the place and the announcers were excusing it basically saying that almost anything goes at the end of a game. Gronk was held down so he couldn't jump for the ball. And he was the only Pat there cause Hogan got taken out.

I hated it, but the travesty in this SB is much worse.

Yeah ruined a great game.
Whatever Eagles screwed it up and have nobody to blame but themselves

To prevent it, the Pats or any team for that matter has to win convincingly. An even game, and you're at the mercy of the refs and now too the expedited review process.

Mahomes is the 9th quaterback with only 2 superbowl. You shouldn't be the goat with such a tiny amount of rings.

That can be said for any close contest in any sport though, right? That doesn't mean it's rigged.

It was a fairly competitive game. Eagles played well that they should have been able to determine the outcome of the game until that option was stolen from them.

He's not a Pats fan as opposed to being a BB ballwasher. He hates on Brady because Brady won without Bill whereas Bill is here struggling to get a wildcard win without Brady.
He's so ****ing dense that he forgets as he's literally discounting every single Brady Super Bowl championship with the Patriots for whatever incredibly ****ing stupid reason(s) he conjures up that he's also ripping the rings away from Belichick too.

What kind of a "PatsFan" mental case carries on and on and on about how the most valuable player in franchise history is really a fraud? It's totally ridiculous. Even most adamant Brady haters from other cities are willing to at least acknowledge Brady is the GOAT no matter who much they resent him for depriving their teams of championships.

They had plenty of opportunities to determine the outcome of the game before that play, though.

He will always be owned by the Manning boys when it counts the most.
Maybe you should argue Belichick is "owned" by the Manning boys since it's Belichick's defenses that have failed against them.

Right, two things can be true at the same time.

I just wrote the penalty should never have been called, but IMO the refs didn't lose the game, the Philly D lost the game.

They had a ten point lead at half time, despite Hurts spotting KC seven points on the fumble.

Where was the Philly D in the second half?

How come not a single sack of Mahomes?

Everyone knows Kelce is KC's best receiver, how come he was open so much?

Fun fact: Davonta Smith actually had more yards and more catches than AJ Brown.

IMO the Philly offense did about as well as we could expect by getting 35, the highly vaunted defense is what let Philly down.
