Was even Tom annointed the Goat when at 27 he had won 3 SBs in 4 years? I don't remember that.
No, not at all. Because he didn't have the "numbers", and Manning was still the golden boy. Tom had to wait until after the 2 Giants losses, and was only started to be discussed after the '14 SB vs. Seahawks, and really wasn't cemented until 28-3.

SM wasn't as big back then as it is now. The need for news by the minute has changed everything. Now everyone has an opinion and we all need to know about it no matter how crazy it may be.

I hope every young QB (Hurts, Burrow, Mac, Allen) wins a SB in succession to water this nonsense down.

Nope. The comparisons to Montana were made but freaking MANNING was held as the better player at the time.

I don't think it was clear yet how good Tom was. He threw for 145 in one of those wins and 219 in another. You had the number 1 and number 2 scoring defense in 2 of those years. I think a lot of people thought of him at that time as kind of like Terry Bradshaw who won 4 from 1975 to 1980, the product of a great defense and not screwing it up offensively.

Teddy Bruschi said this morning he knew during the CAR SB when they couldn't stop them on D and Tom just kept fighting. But yea, a lot of people hadn't realized his greatness yet.

I would say he was viewed as a gritty late round pick that fell into a great situation because of the Bledsoe injury and was making the most of it. I think it would be pretty similar if Brock Purdy had won a couple of Super Bowls vs if Joe Burrow wins a couple. It's easier to believe one is a great quarterback based on draft status and expectations.

Agree, 1st rounders (Manning, Rodgers, Mahomes) always have a leg up over the others because of expectations. It's funny that neither of the two considered the greatest were picked in the 1st round (6th & 3rd).

The media wasn't nearly as toxic and stupid as it is today back then. They egregiously do this with Mahomes, despite the fact it cannot be overstated he walked into the league with everything served up on a golden platter: top 5 offensive coach of all time, playoff roster, All-Pro top 3 TE of all time, and All-Pro Tyreek Hill, who will go down as one of the fastest, most electric players of all time (essentially won KC their SB despite a subpar game from Mahomes). It's such an absurd topic altogether that it doesn't even need to be entertained very thoroughly. It just warrants mocking.

Waiting for the odds on draftkings to change as we get closer to game

right now Eagles are -1.5, if they get to -1 im betting $250 on them

This says it all: Peak Mahomes vs 40-something Brady. No matter how many SBs Mahomes ends up winning, this will always haunt him. It's like if peak Brady played against late 30s Montana. It never happened.

It’s gonna suck but I’m going with KC on this one. Philly is such a ****hole city. They don’t deserve anything good. ‍
These are 2 evenly matched teams and predictions are pretty much worthless. I think the key factor is the Eagles depth on defense. If the refs call it fair and square Eagles will win. Their D is damn good.

Peak Mahomes? When they met in the AFCCG, Mahomes was 3 years younger than Joe Burrow and Josh Allen are now. Did they peak 3 years ago? Trevor Lawrence is peaking? And the same age Brady was when he became a starter. Since Pat's 24th birthday, he's 3-1 vs Brady and 3-3 overall with an overtime loss. Nothing is gonna haunt Mahomes.

So you agree then that talk of Mahomes being the GOAT is nonsense.

Of course it's nonsense. Nobody says otherwise that is being serious. Google greatest quarterback of all time and tell me how many of the lists say Mahomes and how many don't say Brady. Honestly, the only place you hear a discussion about Mahomes being GOAT is here on this message board. I have never seen that debated on my Chiefs board. I wouldn't be surprised if someone on Chiefs Planet said something like that, because they seem to love trolling other teams. But I'm sure they know otherwise. I don't go there because it's a cesspool.

I think if his career stays on this track and he plays to a normal age, he will be considered with Montana/Manning/Elway types. If he somehow goes on a heater and wins 4 or 5 more, I'm sure there will be debates as there are with Jordan, Kobe and Lebron. He is doing things that have rarely been done. But it's nonsense to have that talk now.

Watch some of the national sports shows and you will see/hear what people are referring to. It’s not just Mahomes, prior to him it was Aaron Rodgers for years.

I do watch. They are complimentary for sure. I have never ever heard anyone say he is the greatest quarterback of all time over brady.

Back before 2005 it was practically a different league when it came to the passing game and it’s stupid as **** that analysts and pundits who should know better because they were there choose to ignore it. Back then a QB throwing for 30 TDs and 16 INTs with a 95 QB Rating was an automatic MVP season. You can’t compare Brady 01-05 to Mahomes 18-22 it’s just not the same.
