Super Bowl 57 PreGame Discussion: Chiefs vs. Eagles (Andy Reid bowl)

The problem with your O is that if Kelce isn’t wide open, Mahomes tends to hold the ball and play sandlot football in the offensive backfield. Your WR corps, sans Kelce, really isn’t great. If the Eagles flood the middle hook and dedicate their game plan to taking out Kelce, nobody else on your offense is going to kill them and Mahomes is going to get beat up. The Eagles’ OL is also excellent and just dominated the LoS against a much better 49ers front yesterday. The only way I see the Eagles losing the game is it Hurts just absolutely chokes the game away.

No team has really been able to cover Kelce. It's either scheming and/or great player execution. Belichick is the one coach who has been able to succeed at limiting him.

Hard to compare games. However, the bolded is exactly what happened three years ago. SF had the advantage in most areas. However, it mattered not because KC had the advantage where it mattered most. I acknowledge that Hurts is better than 2019 Jimmy G.

I don't know about the Eagles cornerbacks and safeties though. Do you know how good they are? I legitimately have not paid close attention to those positions. It's the DL, WR's, and OL that gets most attention.

I assume two weeks will be enough for Mahomes to be fully healthy. Eagles have a guy in his second year coaching. Reid has been a HC 24 years. How will that play out?

I at least hope it is a close game. I keep hanging my hat on having Mahomes & Reid. And can Hurts make the big plays?

I have no opinion on the Eagles either way. So I'm cheering for the Chiefs to lose in 2 weeks.

Unfortunately KC will win
Great QB/Great coach tend to win these games more than lose them no matter how the rest of the roster is.

Fairly or unfairly, most Pats seasons were SB or bust. Anything less was a failure. That is where I am at as a Chiefs fan. I don't care about MVP trophies. Five straight home AFC title games. Nor do I care about stats.

I actually think going 1/5 with two SB losses in five years would look worse more than anything else. Everyone will say "Yeah they did win one...BUT."

You are correct. It doesn't make logical sense why Super Bowl loses are held as worse than losing in an earlier round but they are. Happened with Brady until he finally won his fourth. Happened to Manning (still does). Montana benefits massively from being 4-0. Losing that game matters legacy wise more than any other championship in sports because its One Game and not a series.

A fully healthy Mahomes is unstoppable. Although, Philly presents a tough challenge.

He is not unstoppable and has been stopped. Great player for sure, but Eagles D will really be challenging for him. You can not run on eagles and their cbs are very good

That is true. For Chiefs, anything less than a Lombardi will be a fail. However they will be back every year for next 5-10 years unless Mahomes gets injured or Burrows can derail them.

It comes down to how much protection Mahomes gets. He has a top OL. Except now he is going against the best DL in football. We can't win this game in a grind it out type facet. Need to score at least 25 points on offense and/or get at least two turnovers on D.

That's your problem. When it comes to the bad stuff about Brady, you just cover your ears and pretend it didn't happen. The Mannings WERE Bradys kryptonite. Brady is not this upstoppable force like you think (or rather wish for).

Running it is an option. But the Eagles run defense is so good. Maybe use Pacheco more as a pass catcher if need be.

If the run game does not work, use quick passes to stop the pass rush.
