PATRIOTS NEWS BoB officially back

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
That's why it's important to keep Caley on the staff...
Caley has been passed over for Patricia. I don’t want him as my OC. If he was that good he would been the OC instead of Patricia.

This is great news!

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I think this is great considering whom we had last year, on the other hand I sometime wish we would have gone with someone new altogether , new blood, new ideas and concepts.
Anyway, welcome back Bob, now fix our offense !!
Hopefully we got him to sign a 3 year deal at least. We need continuity for Mac !
I don’t agree. The head coach isn’t going to easily accept a foreign offense.
You don’t want the young QB learning another new system. Nor the OL trying another new scheme.

This is great news. Goodbye Matt P (from offense at least lol).

He committed to Saban to stay for the contract he signed hopefully he does the same for BB

Not really. He would have been the Bucs OC last year if Leftwich was hire by the Jaguars.

The Patriots are just a step to get back to a HC job.

OTOH I think we'd all agree some OL scheme is better than none scheme, which was how it looked all too often this past year.

Yeah but BOB was the only candidate to actually call offense. Everyone else was Bills best buddies.

I'm more confident with O'Brien than a WR coach or a guy who coaches OL in college. He also coached at Alabama macs old offense...

Have to wonder if they throw some of what Mac did well at Alabama in there.

Say your goodbyes to BB.

From an Alabama fan

Finally that piece fell. Man, Kraft and Bill B are probably at the end of their time together. According to several Pats sites, this was a "Robert Kraft" hire and Bill B was "encouraged" to hire him. Even though Bill B apparently had real interest in others

Bob Kraft is on record wanting BOB to take over after BB leaves.

He wasn't necessarily passed over, Caley showed stones, and told BB he'd wouldn't be interested in taking the job without the title. The coordinator title is what justifies the salary. Curran mentioned Caley was approached long before Judge and Patricia were. So who really knows, if Caley is really that regarded then ownership will find a way to retain him..

The good news we all expected but feared would not occur.

Step 1 of fixing the offense is done.
Step 2 hire ol coach
Step 3 get a qb coach
Step 4 draft a left tackle at 14

Genuinely curious : why the charade of the interviews ? Like, why would a coach with the background of BOB need to interview with his résumé and familiarity ?
Mike Reiss speculated on Sunday that the other interviews were for OC-in-waiting type of positions. That is, success in NE would put BoB on the HC radar screen soon but that’s blocked with Mayo. Patriots wanted to avoid being left with no in-house option available like last year. So one/more of those guys might be hired here as well. Reiss has been spot on during this process so far, so I put a lot of stock in his ideas here.
