Does he stay or does he go?

I'd like to keep him at least until we have another guy in there. I want to re-sign McDermott and draft a first round tackle. We typically don't do day one tackle starters, so I think he stays unless he gets beaten out in camp.

Let's also keep in mind we basically had no OL coach and an occasionally elite tackle for 10.25M is a bargain.

He stays.

According to Overthecap 3 mil of his 2023 salary is now fully guaranteed because he saw over 75% playing time.

Trent Brown signed a two year contract with the New England Patriots worth $11.5 million base value with $4.5 million available incentives. Brown received a $2.5 million signing bonus as part of his $7 million guarantee. $3 million of his 2023 base salary is guaranteed for injury only and will vest to a full guarantee on the 1st day of the 2023 league year or if has 75% playtime in 2022. Brown has $750,000 weight bonuses in both years of the contract.

For $150k (assuming he hits weight in mid-April), they can keep him until after the draft and make a decision then. For an additional $150k (split between two weigh-ins in June and July), they can keep him for training camp. That’s a pretty minimal cost to keep their options open.

Froob,Froob- about your thread title,bruh
It's does he stay or does he go.
But if you're gonna be grammatically-challenged, you need to be consistent.
So, do he stay or do he go is acceptable.
To recap,does/do,no good.
Do/do excellent.
Dont forget, you need to do-do

I think he’d pretty easily get $3M on the open market to offset those guarantees, so they’d have to carry the $3M hit in 2023 but would get reimbursed on the 2024 cap. It probably won’t be a factor in their decision.

He’s too good of a bargain to get rid of unless he requests to get released himself.

BUT, the depth behind him absolutely needs reinforcement. He just can’t be relied on for a 17 game slate.

Brown was in for 98% of the 2022 snaps.

He would be in year 2 of the new NE offense along with Strange, Andrews and Ownenu. I like the idea of keeping continuity.

Agreed. And he would be better on the right side.

For continuity we need an OC that runs the Brady/McDaniels system.

Ya, McDaniel's.

The Raiders stadium has turned into a home game for the visiting teams.

I think he stays just out of necessity. We need to draft an OT and/or bring in a solid veteran, but Brown can still contribute on the right side

Hopefully a good OL coach can cut all his dumb penalties he took this year way down.
And the ones he didn’t get called for. Probably led the he league in uncalled false starts.

Draft a Left Tackle or find one via trade. Move Trent back to RT where being lazy once in a while as a 6'8" behemoth doesn't guarantee you a holding call. Sign McDermott to be the swing tackle and draft a developmental tackle (maybe even if you drafted a starter in round 1).

im over trent brown... we need to trade him to the Saskatchewan Rough Riders for a few tim horton coupons and a copy of Canadian National Geographic..

But hes cheap for a tackle, so I am assuming he will stay for 2023, and an eventual replacement will be drafted this year... Unfortunately I think he will remain in the LT position in the 2023 season

Stay but put him back on the other side. We need a LT badly.

If he goes, there will be trouble
And if he stays it will be double
So come on and let me know...
