Whoever is responsible for phasing Bourne out needs to be shot out into space and never be heard of or from again.

So inexcusable.
Agreed… Benching one of your most explosive players is not acceptable… If the coaches have that much of a problem with the guy, they just cut him, but don’t put them on the bench when he could provide an explosive spark

It would have made a difference if they won today.

But like I said, the season definitely ended today.

Yea but it's been a real struggle all year. The fact of the matter is, it didn't take until the last two weeks for any reasonably objective fan to know this team wasn't very good.

What bugs me is how bad Mac has been. I expected a year of growth and instead I'm left wondering if he's gonna work out or not.

Every week someone finds a way to lose the game for the team !! Been that kind if a drain. I am looking forward to the off season to see what happens and where we go from here .
In this case it was the same guy in back-to-back games.

Post Game thoughts:
1. Loves the fight in the second half.
2. Near the end of the game after Rham fumbled Judge brought the offense together to rally them and I didn’t see Patricia around. My conspiracy theory is that Judge took over play calling duties in the second half and the offense suddenly looked better.
3. Steve Belichick is a good DC. Two weeks in a row they have made half time adjustments against offenses with elite talent. Considering the biggest knock on him is he can’t get the defense to play well against top talent. He’s not perfect (I’m tired of seeing Judon and Uche drop into coverage and the zone defense gives up too many 6-8 yard passes on early downs)
4. The offensive line has put together quality pass blocking the last couple weeks. Other than Patricia the offenses biggest issue has been the OL in my opinion so this is good to see.
5. Rham should have been blown dead before the fumble.
6. Losses suck, but this team isn’t playoff quality. Winning this game probably wouldn’t have put the Pats in the playoffs with Miami and Buffalo their last two games, but it would have moved the draft pick out of range of one of the top two tackles Skoronski or Paris Johnson Jr.
7. I now have a zero tolerance policy for people posting about Brady in order to invalidate everything Belichick accomplished in the past. Similarly if you blame Mac for a poorly run route, a bad play call or poor protection you are getting muted. Mac has done a whole lot wrong on his own without adding extra things that aren’t his fault.
8. Patricia has been bad calling the plays, bad implementing the plays, and bad coaching the offensive line. Overall the offensive players have lacked attention to detail and when that problem repeatedly appears it’s on the coach. Potentially the most frustrating thing is how he has buried the teams best playmaker on a team lacking big plays because Bourne missed a meeting in the pre season. If he’s going to hold players to such a lofty standard he better live up to that standard himself and he hasn’t.

It's just that the plays were not all made by the Pats. Some were flukey mistakes.
Like what? What was a fluke? Because the coaches dialed up that interception from Burrow.

The only fluke I saw was the Hail Mary, BUT I also saw the Bengals drop off Washington and leave him alone for a bit, I saw Meyers sprint full speed toward Washington, no let up, and then throttle down waiting for the tip.

What Jakobi Meyers did there was unbelievably heady play. 99.9% of the WRs in the league don't make that play.

Marcus Jones's INT run back was incredible as well.

I don't see these as flukes.

As for Chase's fumble, I predicted he would do that because he was holding the ball like a loaf of bread in the plays prior to that.

Reporters have said that they've known BB to want to move to a bit more of the Shanahan system for a while, and have opined that Brady was the reason that didn't happen. But, be that as it may, we can see that the Weiss/O'Brien/McDaniels system is still very effective in the NFL, and was good for Jones.

So, while I can understand the idea of being interested in change, it didn't make sense to push it the way BB did, given the QB he has under center. The whole point of the Shanahan system is to make it idiot proof at the QB position, and it only works if you've got a lot of offensive talent at positions other than QB. The strength of Jones is supposed to be his intelligence. So BB effectively drafted a Brainiac and then drew up a "game plan" for a jock.
Yeah, I don't really follow either. Especially if he was thinking about bringing O'Brien back in 2023 the whole time (just a theory), was 2022 with a bunch of novices running the show really the right time for such a change?

Something tells me this “standard” isn’t always used by the refs.

Rewatching it, I don't think the refs blew the call. That would've been a quick whistle.

That's all the arm he has, accept your quarterback can't play dead in a western.

Patricia is horrible but when he's replaced and Mac still blows then what?
You are right and that Mac does not have a cannon for an arm and isn’t gonna blow anyone away with swinging it into tight spaces or for 60+ yards… He is a game manager with decent arm strength…. So far he has not proven that he can be above average in this league and lead a team even remotely close to a championship… Of course, he was not the only problem we had this year…. But we have had teams like this during the Brady years and Brady was somehow able to still make things happen.

considering he lost to Mr Irrelevant, you're probably right
In fairness, he has absolutely no offensive line, less weapons and he is 45 years old…

???

I'm not sure what you mean by not very good.

If they won the games we are talking about, they are 9-6. Good, bad, whatever. It's a winning record on the way to the playoffs. I'm not sure what else we would want, at this point.

Can’t be. Would never be in that position if he didn’t lateral it to myers.
Do you think that was a planned play by the coaches…? At least the lateral to Myers? I don’t think they ever wanted Myers to throw it across the field like that… But I wonder if the first lateral was not planned

Maybe it's all the darn Christmas movies, but if Dolphins lose tomorrow night, and Pats win the next 2 games, the Pats are in the playoffs (from the ESPN machine)?

These last 2 games feel like a microcosm of the entire season. There's still hope, but I don't know if my 'nads can take all the hits.
If that happens it will result in a blowout playoff loss followed by the top 3 tackles being gone when the Pats pick. I would be happy while watching those games but really them losing the next two games is best for the team.

I love having to have the "pool report" take with the officials after every god damned Patriots game to ask them why the hell they chose to do what they did.

That was a crap explanation by the ref. Stevenson was surrounded and not only stopped but being pushed back, no freaking way was he potentially going anywhere.

Cam Newton...

Still not impressed.
I mean they didn’t cross midfield until the end of the 3rd quarter and they had like 70 yards of offense with like 6 min left in the 3rd.

The Bengals did everything they could to give us the game. 2 TD dropped, a miss FG, a pick 6, a fumble.

Take out week 6 (when he got hurt early in the game) and week 7 (inactive), and he was at 46% snap count prior to today, down only a little from 52% last season. Lower production on the field is a drastically bigger problem than not being on the field.
